Forums - Gaming - What if emulation were impossible to begin with?

Sephiran said:

Emulation is not a factor for modern Xbox and PS consoles, Switch 1 was one of the last instances were a new system was easily hacked and emulated, from now on its more and more likely that emulation will play a small role when it comes to future consoles, and if they are ever hacked it will only be years after those consoles have stopped being relevant.

You can emulate legacy systems on Xbox Series.

People have played from Nintendo systems and even PS1 on Xbox Series S and X.

I dunno, some kind of alternative I guess.

Then nothing really.

Can we talk about that premise being impossible instead, due to Turing completeness? 🤓☝

My life would be…the same, I guess. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe versions of retro consoles with original hardware except with modern storage space making possible tens of build-in games?

And later/modern consoles would've been more often designed backwards compatible, at least with an add-on like MegaDrive/Genesis had for Master System games.

Collector prices would be even higher.
