After watching this, all I can think is......  Steamdeck is the same chip as the "budget" version, but better  (and cheaper)....
and the Switch 2 is going toe for toe with the Ally X.

I can't imagine sales for the Rog Xbox Ally X, are high or stay high.
This is just very expensive side grade to a Switch 2.... while not being able to play Nintendo titles as well.

For those curious what the differnce is between a SteamDeck + Rog xbox Ally X + Base PS5.
It looks like this:

Battery is a big lose for the Switch 2. I would have REALLY liked if they could fit a slightly bigger battery I don't know... Going from 2ish hours on demanding games to a solid 3 would make things much better.

But besides that, Switch 2 is really holding its own.

Only if you run using low performance mode..... at high performance mode (where Rog Xbox Ally X, can go toe to toe or beat Switch 2 graphics),
the differnces are minor.  Carry a battery bank with you, and your switch can go more than long enough.

The fact that you can then Dock the Switch 2 as well, and play on a tv.....  It seems like a much better value offering.
(which is crazy, cuz 450$ at launch felt really expensive for the Switch2)

I mean, it’s a budget friendly Windows gaming PC. I wouldn’t be viewing it in the same capacity as a console. I wouldn’t upgrade to it over my Steam Deck though.

Optimized games on dedicated gaming hardware vs not optimized low-end PC. 

I imagine the more meaningful comparison is Steamdeck. Switch 2 also can't play any steam or Xbox games without a dedicated port, nor have broader PC functionality.

But for sure it seems that these kind of incremental jumps in the PC mobile space are not worth much without dedicated software support and/or a future version of FSR4. If you really care about 60fps in handheld form that is more achievable on the ROG compared to S2 but yeah, I don't see the value over the Steamdeck

Yep, pretty much as expected. The Z2e is bottlenecked by memory bandwidth, like its predecessor the Z1e already was. You're not going to get much more out of these chips without more bandwidth. And for $1,000 it is a real waste of money to buy this in my opinion. You'd be better off going pricier and getting a Ryzen AI 385/395+ handheld or tablet ($1600-1800) and underclocking it for battery life (which still nets +20% over the Z2e at the same wattage, and +100% when maxed out) or just getting a refurbished Z1e handheld for half the price + an eGPU with the remaining savings (an ADT-LINK UT3G costs $120-$150 + PSU for $50 + entry-level GPU for $200-$300.) 

Thanks for clarifying the performance mode thing.

65w battery banks are not exactly cheap nor common though. And you are gonna need something around that if you want to play while charging.

I agree that for the price the Switch 2 is an incredibly capable hardware. I have it and I'm super happy with it. I just wish the battery was a bit better, that's all.

You can get a Switch 2 and an OLED 512 GB Steam Deck for within a cent or so of the ROG Xbox Ally. If you get the LCD Steam Deck, you can get a Switch 2 and Steam Deck combined for cheaper.
The choice is obvious.
