Forums - Gaming - IMPORTANT— How to view the NEW “Indie” Topic

A few weeks ago, Bandorr added an “Indie” topic to this website. However, I’d imagine many have either been uninformed on this change or do not know how to view the category on the main page.

If you want access to “Indie” on the front page, here are the steps you’ll need to take:

Around the Network

Also, in order to keep this thread up on the front page for a little longer, respond to this thread regarding the following question: Do you think that AAA publishers could benefit from building up very small studios for pumping out smaller, indie-sized releases for new (or pre-existing) IP?

Personally, I think this would make for a very interesting outcome. For instance, how could Santa Monica (or some other Sony dev studio) re-imagine God of War so as to work as a 16bit game? My only worry is these AAA studios diluting the scene, washing out smaller indie studios who really need the attention.

Yes. All major publishers should keep smaller teams to pump out smaller games based on existing and new IP. It keeps IPs relevant and also trains new developers and encourages experimentation. If not, then publishers should be will to license out their dormant IPs to developers and publishers that can make use of them. Case in point, Sony letting Bandai Namco release Patapon and Hot Shot games is a win win as those games no longer really suit the ethos of Sony's first party portfolio but they still have value.
