Forums - Sales - August 2025 VGChartz Estimates Thread - Switch 3rd Month - Americas, Europe + Japan Out Now

If i'm Nintendo i would be shipping much more consoles to Japan and NA this holiday. Demand is just so much higher there than in Europe.

Around the Network

I posted this in the Circana August thread but in case people missed it.

We don't have much information to go on when it comes to the PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch in the US, so only have preliminary data based on what little we have. I could post that and adjust if we get more data from Circana's Mat? Otherwise I can wait to post Americas estimates.

Edit: If we don't get any more information I will probably just go ahead and post the preliminary figures tomorrow for the Americas as we are already so late.

What we do know is unit sales are up 6.5% YoY and NS2 is 5% ahead of PS4 and 77% ahead of NS1. Mat says it is at 2.4m, but given how much ahead it is of PS4 and NS1 it is likely just a hair below 2.4m.

So that leaves us with this for August 2025:

  1. NS2 - ~312K
  2. PS5 - ???
  3. XS - ???
  4. NS -???

Total: 579K (+6.5% YoY - if you don't take into account other platforms as PC handhelds are now counted with consoles).

That leaves 267K for PS5, XS, and NS. Given where sales have been we are likely talking 160K-170K for PS5, 55K-60K for XS and 45K-50K for NS1. July 2025 we had PS5 at 185K, NS at 70K, and XS at 65K. NS is now below XS as the price increased.

I'm fine with waiting a bit if it means better data.

The US is gonna be the really interesting one, as things are most competitive there.

I edited the previous post, but we have enough information on the Switch 2 to be within a margin of error. I did the math of where the other 3 could be. But more room for error with them.

Edit: Sadly we may not get more information from Mat or we might. We are hoping he give the % drop YoY for all 3 or the digital % for PS5 and XS to help with the average selling price for each (ie. PS5 Digital Edition % of sales).

Hopefully more concrete data gets released on the 22nd when September NPD is out. That might be able to pool it all together. Then after that October data should be messy for Xbox when their 2nd price increase takes effect.

Yeah hopefully we get more concrete data with the September data that could help with adjusting the August estimates. At worst we will be getting the quarterly earnings reports at the end of this month and early next month.

Upcoming earnings report of the big 3:

When will the Americas and global data be released? If it needs to be corrected later, do it, the September report is not that far away.
