We are approaching 5 years since the release of PS5 and Xbox Series; what in your opinion is the best game so far that's only available on current gen consoles and why?

Switch 2 games are also eligible, as Nintendo's current system, but not Switch 1 games now that system's been replaced.

FF7 Rebirth. Not a fan of the story changes, but I loved almost everything else about it. Very excited for part 3.

Ah, I can see that the definition of "current gen" is gonna be a tricky one, given Nintendo and Sony/MS are out of sync now in terms of their generations.

For the purposes of this particular thread, I'm referring to the systems that are "current gen" for each of the three hardware makers, so PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2.

There is no single best current-gen single game. Just a lot of great games. Like every generation.

Probably Returnal. Graphics, audio, and best use of haptics control. Though i have yet to play death stranding 2, snake eater delta.

Astrobot, hands down. I haven't played a 3D playformer that fresh since the PS2 days.

Donkey Kong Bananza. It looked weird when I first saw it, but now I can't stop playing. It is highly addictive. I always end up late at night when I should already be sleeping, but I'm thinking I just want to get one more banana.

It might be a good idea to list the most notable current gen only games, since there are just not that many of them lol.

Baldur's Gate 3, Astro Bot, FF7 Rebirth, Donkey Kong Bananza, Spider-Man 2, Death Stranding 2, Tekken 8, Indiana Jones, Rift Apart, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon's Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 16, Silent Hill 2 Remake, MGS Delta, Returnal, STALKER 2, Mario Kart World, Stellar Blade, Starfield, Helldivers 2, Forza Motorsport, Avowed, Hellblade 2, Wukong, Honkai Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, Wuthering Waves. What am I missing?

FF7 Rebirth, its the best game in this generation so far.
Returnal, nothing come close to feeling of being trapped on Alien planet with atmosphere that is better then any other game and most, if not all movies.
And my personal, SAO Fractured Daydream, game have a lot of flaws but as a huge SAO fan i just love that i can play with all characters from anime and against most of the bosses and they all look and feel like they are just ported from anime.
