I found this direct to be yawn inducing, with Virtual Boy segment in "are they just trolling at this point or they are actually serious?" category, but then again, I was pretty much watching just to see if there will be any OoT Remake announcements, or something along that line.

According to the internet Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2 are going to be $40 each... wtf? Thank God for emulation, $20 each would be steep.

The presentation setup Nintendo uses isn't great, Koizumi doesn't have Iwata's charm but the Direct's bounce around all over the place from talking about Kyoto Marathon to a talking flower toy to indie games to big budget games to small budget games to ... uh Virtual Boy, etc. etc. etc. It just feels like it's all over the place.

I've just learned to parse things afterwards and not to care as much about whether or not something is a brand, brand new announcement or not. For example Resident Evil 7, 8, AND the upcoming RE9, day 1 with the other platforms is actually a fairly big megaton, it was just kinda ruined by a leak earlier in the week. Now like you can say "well then that doesn't count as a big announcement", but that's silly. It's still huge for the system, just because you found out about it a bit earlier doesn't change that.

Can we talk about amiibo prices? They went from 12,99-14,99 for the normal ones... To 29,99? I purchased the Samus + EMMI amiibos for 29,99 like 3 years ago. And now JUST Samus is 30? WTF?

And the Galaxy and Kirby ones? 40-50 dollars? Seriously? They sold the special Zelda and Loftwing amiibo not too long ago at 25.

They have doubled the price for amiibos just like that. Jesus Christ, between this, the game prices and the ridiculous DLCs Nintendo is really bent on making me dislike them.

"Put smiles on people's faces". Yeah right. But let's rip them off first.

Nintendo is the least consumer friendly player in gaming.  I love their games but that are just exceptional in their treatment of loyal gamers.

I'm still astounded mario 3d all stars excluded galaxy 2, but also was a limited release including the digital version.

Yeah $30 for an Amiibo is way too much. $50 is downright bonkers.

And $20 DLC that should have been included for free with Pokemon and Banana.

Sad thing is, it wasn't always like this. Sure, they have always have their fair share of greedy practices. But in general, Nintendo has been pretty affordable compared to other consoles ecosystems up until the Switch 1 era. And even during the Switch 1 era, buying games at launch for example, was considerably cheaper than on other systems by quite a bit.

But what they have done now is just ridiculous. They haven't just matched the competition in terms of game prices and shitty DLC shenanigans. They have surpassed them! Right now, there's absolutely nothing about Nintendo that I can say is better for the consumer compared to the competition. It's the opposite: everything is worse and more greedy than the competition.

We all went mad at the 3D All-Stars situation. 60 dollars for 3 old games with barely any improvements that couldn't be done by an emulator. And now they are selling us 2 old games (one of them already ported to the Switch) with even less work at 70 dollars.

They have no shame. Maybe they are in need of another Wii U situation to knock them off their pedestal.

Pokémon DLC is 30 dollars xD

And Bananza's DLC is even more ridiculous. 20 dollars for what's equivalent to the Mushroom Kingdom and Luigi's Balloon thingy in Mario Odyssey... Only in that ocassion that content was either already in the base game or added for free.

100% agreed.  Nintendo is why I started getting into emulation.  They are shameless at this point.

Mario 64, sunshine, galaxy 1 and 2 for $40 would be fair.  $40 for just galaxy, lol, obscene.

It was fine I guess. Lots of games being shown at all. But there wasn't anything really interesting for me personally. I fell asleep watching the direct, I don't think that has ever happened before. But it's not like Nintendo has to always cater to my personal taste. I'm struggling to keep up with playing new releases anyway. Just got Kirby the other day (missed that one on Switch 1) and I'm not even halfway through DK Bananza. So I'm not worried or anything and I am sure that other folks enjoyed the direct much more than I did. That's ok, it will be the other way around some time in the future. I mean mots folks surely were bored out when Princess Peach Showtime was announced, but I was genuinely excited. =D

So whatever, the main thing is always games and Nintendo showed a lot of them.
