Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, out now on Switch 1 and 2

If they make a Prime 5, they should actually go back and study Prime 1, since that is still the standard by which all 3D Metroids are measured. That game is up there with the greatest 3D Nintendo games of all time. It's a masterpiece. Study it, study why it is, and you will do well.

I’d imagine that’s what they did when they remastered the game back in 2023. I say they should pull a BotW where they go back to the NES original (and maybe also Super Metroid) to re-examine how they approach making a 3D Metroid.

Close to the end, have all the keys. Only major complaint i have is the crystals, collecting them is boring as crap.

So, it turns out when Retro Studios restarted the development of Metroid Prime 4, it wasn't from scratch. They had to salvage the concepts Bandai Namco did when they were developing the game.

That actually makes a lot of sense, and does explain why the game sometimes feels like a collection of concepts that don't always gel together, despite the overall high level of technical and artistic craft.

I don't envy Retro trying to pull together another dev's cancelled mess and try to chisel it into a quality game, must have been hellish for them, not to mention covid probably then messed things up even worse.

It's a miracle the game's good at all under these circumstances.

DId he really need to throw in his shit opinion and comparisons?  So far the game has been great for me. Not the strongest entry but not this horrible mess people seems to talk down on. It's been a pretty good game so far.

Yeah I get that some people feel the game's not up to the same level as Prime 1-3 or that it's not as great as people hoped for after such a long wait, but I feel like people are really going overboard when they act like the game is some kind of disaster.

It has flaws, but it's not remotely a bad game.

Exactly how I feel about dark souls 2.  DS2 always got too much hate.  Weakest in the series but still good.

I have all 5 keys, 100 % on the green energy but only 98% on items when hitting the "point of no return" . Are that last 2 % of items found in the end game or did I somehow miss a few things despite revisiting each area after activating the scanner drones for them all? I don't know that I will replay this on hard but on the off chance (I don't think it likely) that I did get all scans I want to 100% the items. I would have finished the game already if I knew for sure one way or the other.
