I remember being told when I was 15 that I would get more right wing as I got older and earned more money.
15 years later, a Masters in ChemEng and making good money.. I get more and more left leaning every year. 15 year old me was a centrist compared to 30 year old me.
Which is wild as my politics are basically just, whilst governments are given power and money from the people, they have the responsibility to ensure everyone is healthy and educated and using the money given to them by the people to achieve this.
To expand on Healthy that means using revenue generated to provide healthcare, a clean environment with strong regulations on companies that can negatively affect health and ensuring everyone has the freedom to be who they want to be.
Other economic stuff is involved too such as the elimination of private property for use of generating revenue etc.

I'm not German, I'm your friendly western neighbor. I don't know much about AfD, but why are they considered rightwing? The Nazi's where socialist (it's in the name). Are AfD hardcore capitalist? |
You've fell for the far-rights attempt to rewrite history, the Nazi Party were not Socialists just because they had Socialist in their name, not once in my entire lifetime in the UK have I ever heard the Nazi Party described as Socialist. The Nazi Party was also not a "Workers Party" Lol. They used both of these things to gain influence and votes as these things were popular post-WW1 and then ripped their masks off. Actions speak louder than words, Democratic People's Republic of Korea does not make North Korea a Democracy, Lol.
There's now parties like the AfD who are trying to change the narrative that Nazis were socialists, which they're only attempting to do to try to divert criticism away from themselves, "How can we be Nazis? We aren't socialists!" but the AfD is so far-right that even other far-right parties across Europe such as France's RN who previously had alliances with them, have distanced themselves from the AfD.
The AfD like the Nazi Party are extreme nationalists with the added twist of being actually pro-Russian, Hitler was never pro-Russian, Hitler hated Communism and the Soviet Union, and ultimately wanted their country (Lebensraum) but it was more beneficial to stay out of each others way at the start in a temporary alliance (Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact) but I think AfD genuinely like Russia.
Back to AfD, I made a post listing some of their recent controversies here: US Politics |OT|

You speak like Europe is a whole country. I’m French and France is not socialist. We just have a social advantage : healthcare for everyone. |
No European country is socialist Tbf so it doesn't matter where he lived, Lol.
They're all capitalist led but with some strong social safety nets I.E. free healthcare.

Reading through this comment i realized something. To leftist people anyone who is on right side is rich, money hungry, nazi, while, for them, these on left side are nice, oppressed, humble people. I guess you people need to read a little more what Nazi mean. The way you people think have much much more in common to nazi view of the world then anything on right side of the thing.
Talking about brainwashed people.

Same here. I have a family, make good money, and have only become harder left as I get older. I want the taxes I already pay redirected towards health and education, and a hardened wall of separation between the church and the state.

Me too, I've also experienced the incredibly condescending comments of "Don't worry, when you grow up you'll see the truth and become more right wing" or some variation of that, Lol. And likewise, I started off I would say, as probably a centrist, but as I've grown older, I've grown more left-wing. I would place myself as "left-wing" not far-left or centre-left but in the middle. My current military views are probably more right wing now though as a result of Russia's actions when previously they were left-wing and it has caused me arguments with other left-wingers, Lol.

You didn't read the comments at all. Please point out who even suggested that "anyone who is on the right side is a Nazi" the only mention of the Nazi's in this thread has been in relation to the AfD and...The Nazi Party itself, Lmao. You're looking for drama and desperate to rush in to defend criticism towards the far-right based on a grand total of one political party being accused of being Nazis.
Ironically the one making the most extreme generalisations is yourself with your accusation.

Nazism was an arch-enemy of comunism. Comunist party was the first one to be prosecuted and outlawed during Nazi German ascension
To give a bit more the nuance of why the Nazi called themselves socialists, it has two major reasons
The first is because socialism back them could be understood as an opposition to classical liberalism (laissez faire) which was rampant after industrial revolution, it created wealth while most workers still live in poverty. So there was a call to redistribution of the newly created wealthy. In this sense anyone who was against classical liberalism could call themselves as socialists
Second, socialist (not necessarily Marxism) was really popular in Germany before Hitler ascension. The inclusion of socialism in the name of the party was to gather the sympathy of the worker class
While the nazi German was not classical capitalist, it's hard to classify it as a socialist eithet. Remember having a coletivist economy planned, centralized and organized by the state alone does not turn a nation socialist (at least in the historographical version of socialism derivated from Marxism, people in this thread thinks healthcare = socialism lol)
If being state-controlled is what it takes to be socialist, then absolutist monarchies would also be socialist. Look at Saudi Arabia

It was mentioned multiple time, both nazi and how people on right are just bad and on left are angels, you most likely just read and take what you want to. But either way i am not right or left since i am not from US but unfortunately US politics affect all of us and i hate that. For the rest of the world no matter who in in charge in US, left or right, we are F-ed up.
