I'm hoping this engine brings over more core games. That's what I want. Start getting those 3rd party games 360 and PS3 get.

And why's that? The only problem with RS was the controls, but developers are far more familiar with the Wii-mote now than they were at launch. They're now capable of making aiming guns pixel-perfect.

The hell with graphics, I want great gameplay. The rest is window dressing.
Hmm, who'll win the silent auction, lol?
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I hope a small company buys it and gets big. I'm hoping maybe another big company emerges out of this gen. Like another EA,THQ, Ubisoft, etc. Then 5 years down the line we can all be like "insert company name here" sucks.
Also, getting the game engine is probably the biggest reason ppl want to acquire. If the developers are smart they should keep the rights to the game engine to themselves, but give the rights of the IP to the publisher. I'm willing to bet a bunch of publishers will drop out and then the developers should choose from those remaining.
Also, with all this hype now, it better be a good game. Seriously, or there will be blood.
| azrm2k said: Apparently since the news of Conduit was put out 10 publishers have approached High Voltage about publishing Conduit. Guess not all publishers think the Wii is a toy for non-gamers only. I really hope this game turns out good and sells really good. Not just so I get to enjoy it but so we can help prove there is definitely a solid base of core gamers on the Wii ready to buy games. |
Well I have to agree with some of the posters, Nintendo should pick up High Voltage games and bring them in first party. High Voltage is one of the very few studios that are actually developing their own graphics engines and physics engines for the Nintendo Wii. While all of the third parties simply recycle old material. Nintendo could really use a new western studio let alone another shooting studio when it would appear theis problems at Retro. Nintendo could also then use the High Voltage engine internally and outsource it to as many new studios as possible.
If Nintendo themselves don't pick it up my next best bet would be UbiSoft. I think UbiSoft will be quick to pick up High Voltages new graphics engine, publish High Voltages games if not actually look at aquiring the developer. To me High Voltage is doing for the Wii what the Unreal3 engine has done for the 360. UbiSoft just barely said Wii will be the leading console of 2008. Making Conduit a very big prospect for UbiSoft a chance to launch a decent shooter in place of its failed attempts at a high quality shooter (RedSteel).
Then of course EA will be jumping to try and get a new title to deal with UbiSofts increasing grip on the Wii marketplace. EA hasn't released nearly enough high quality Wii titles to make it a major contendor in the marketplace this year. With UbiSoft projecting the Wii to be the leading console this year EA will be racing to get a title to market. EA has been making many hostile take over bids recently and I could see them picking up High Voltage just to spite UbiSoft and prevent it from falling into their hands!
In short if the developer gets a first party publishing offer from Nintendo I can almost guarantee they will take it. If not I think UbiSoft will make the largest effort to aquiring the publishing rights for Conduit with EAGames possibly trying to aquire the developer hands down!

Hey, I actually want another Red Steel.
I gotta give Ubisoft some props for having the balls to make the first FPS and release the first screenshots and all that for such a mediocre game. Great experiments, great baby steps in the right direction. Flaws aside, it was an a for effort and an A for presentation at that early stage. I mean... it's not like it came out at the same time Lair did.
