Okay, I was expecting a bit more from DKB even with bundled not being counted, but still a good launch imo.

Let's see if it has legs anywhere close to SMO.

Digital sales looking strong for DK Bananza, on Amazon Japan the download code version of DK Bananza has more reviews than the regular physical SKU.

Donkey Kong Bananza retails at ¥8.164, for comparison Mario Odyssey is ¥5.980 since the 2017 launch. That's an approx 36% increase.

I am wondering how big this generation's pricing will impact sales going forward.

wow thats huge, what is MKW retail?

It's ¥9.073, MK8 also is ¥5.980 since release. An even bigger difference.

Oh dang, was not expecting that small sales from DK. I mean I know it's no Mario franchise, but certainly thought it would be significantly above MKW numbers for DK's launch week haha. So with digital only probably not much more than 10% of owners bought DK on launch week...considering it's the only first party single player game on the system and is a major AAA release and the system just came out so everyone is looking for what to play besides MKW, those aren't great numbers for DK.

S2 sales pretty decent though, obviously they held back stock last week to flood stock this week for the DK launch, so I'd say 150k is about in line with expectations.

Am more interested in DK numbers in the West though, as I figure it'll be a lot more popular in the west than in Japan.

Switch is reallly crashing in japan. Expected a bit more

I think that puts to rest the MKW vs DKB launch title debate. Nintendo made the right call.

That is the benefit of having a diversified WW base for your console. Some games like Splatoon, Kirby, Pokemon will have higher attach rate in Japan, while others like Donkey Kong, Metroid etc will have higher attach rate in NA/EU.

Switch OLED remaining the highest selling Switch 1 SKU now that its successor is out is interesting; I kinda expected it would be the Lite since if you're buying the most expensive model surely you'd just spend a bit more and get a Switch 2.

I actually wasnt expecting big numbers in Japan for DK, i thought it would take the #1 spot for its launch week at a little more than 200k. DK has lost its selling power for many many years in Japan, actually around the world. But I have a feeling DKB with word of mouth and high reviews is gonna turn out into a massive evergreen
