Forums - Microsoft - Helldivers 2 is out now on Xbox Series S/X

Maybe Sony and Arrowhead realized the amazing potential of a Helldivers X Halo crossover. Whatever the reason, I'm very excited to play this and will buy it day 1.

As I said in the Xbox OT. It comes as a surprise but when you really think about it it's not a massive shift as PS games were going to end up on Xbox hardware very soon anyway as future Xbox hardware will have Steam. So every "xbox" starting with the ROG Xbox Ally will have PlayStation games with or without Sony's input.

Xbox Series sales are already dead, Xbox is leaving the traditional console market. MS are no longer competition against PS hardware and Sony games were going to end up on Xbox devices anyway very soon so might as well start cashing-in early. Especially with a live service title.

The console war is long gone, PS won that battle, Sony/MS are pretty much business partners now.

This. They may as well take all the games that are currently on Steam and port them to Xbox because, as you say the next Xbox will have Steam anyway.

I can see this doing quite well on Xbox.

Online shooters have been the brand's bread and butter since forever, so this should sell like a platformer on a Nintendo system.

Yeah a Halo crossover would be an easy win for them, and unlike a lot of crossovers it would actually fit well as the two IPs are similar.

Sony is testing the water. if successful, expect more live service game on xbox and who knows... single player games as well. they arent competing anymore.

There are lots of rumors on Stellar Blade coming to the Switch 2, you kinda wonder if Helldivers 2 would also be part of that.

Would make sense, such games were off the table with Switch 1 due to hardware constraints, but now that Switch 2 has raised the power bar, it would make sense to profit from what will likely be a large player base.

Considering the nature of the game, this isn't really that surprising that they'd be willing to take a gamble with their most popular live service outing. Although, I don't think this was announced for Gamepass, right ?
Then the answer will be likely muted considering the purchasing habits of the user base.

I think if Helldivers 2 was on GamePass then it would be a bigger concern. I'm expecting this to be a top five selling game of the year on the Xbox platform.

All playstation games will be on the Xbox consoles and Switch one way or another. Nobody is buying a playstation anymore for their exclusives. Just look at the top 10 most played playstation games and they are usually multiplatform titles.

We will see Horizon Zero dawn next on xbox since Hell Divers 2 uses the same game engine. Also, Sony shareholders are probably seeing the success xbox is having with their multiplatform initiative and want to copy it too.

I'd pick up Horizon if it came to Switch 2. I have a PS5, but the novelty of having a game like that on a Nintendo platform and in a hybrid form factor would be enough to make me bite.

Looks like that could be happening: (End of the trailer)
