Smart to release a new Splatoon game early in Switch 2's life. I'm excited for this spin-off.

Nice, I'm kinda surprised it has taken this long for the series to get a spinoff as it's very well suited for it.
As someone who enjoyed all the prior Splatoon games but only really played the single player components, this looks right up my alley.
This does raise the question though of when Splatoon 4 will arrive; hopefully it's not in like 2030 or something.
Im excited and I want more splatoon shit. Give me an anime too
Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

Cross-gen?
This is getting a Switch 1 version? Where'd you see that?

It's a Switch 2 exclusive. The reveal video says as much at 2:04

I took them to mean Splatoon 3 was cross gen since it is getting a bump with the new update on the Switch 2. Otherwise you are correct it has been stated in a couple places at lease that Raiders is exclusive to the Switch 2.
I asked this in the article and I'll ask it here too: Do you think this could have been the single player content for Splatoon 4 and they are just pealing it off and packaging it as it's own game?
For me the single player content in Splatoon 3 was the weakest yet for the series. It was fun but not as much as the other 2.
Great announcement.
Though I wish there was a way to play Splatoon 1 or its campaign at least.

The fact they're clearly designating it as a spinoff makes me think no, we'll still get a Splatoon 4 several years from now with its own dedicated campaign.
Good lord this was the worst experience with a game update I've had yet from Nintendo. It took an hour to download the update with it constantly pausing itself. All other updates for the Switch 2 (system or software) were the regular couple minutes of download max then away I went.
Typically updates on the Switch 1 were the quickest and least painful as compared to some massive PS updates. I have my S2 wired and nothing seemed amiss with my connection. I'm guessing it was on Nintendo's end...
