Forums - Nintendo - The Donkey Kong Bananza thread: Out now exclusively on Switch 2

Seeing

Spoiler!
Diddy and Dixie in the racing layer and getting to ride Rambi

was super cool.

I'm in the Radiance layer now and the Snake people are so cute; a nice change from Snakes usually being evil. The light/shadow mechanics in this layer are also nice.

As someone who grew up with the SNES DKC games, I love how much love and respect for those games runs through Bananza. Nintendo clearly tip their hats to Rare's classics throughout the game, which is so nice to see.

O.k., you all got me- Switch 2 and Bananza, here I come. Good old mom-and-pop shop in town just confirmed they have both in stock, so I am on my way in 10 minutes. Exciting!

A friendship that never should have been broken up. -_-

Also, are there any Bananas to get in the Racing Layer besides the ones for winning the race?

I didn't know this.

Just finished the Groove Layer; holy moly this game is solid gold, just pure video gaming magic.

The folks at EPD Tokyo haven't lost an iota of their brilliance in the 8 years since Odyssey.

To those who are far along in the game, how does the difficulty compare to Odyssey?

I thought it was a little easier than Odyssey because of the smashing terrain giving you more freedom, and collecting more Bananas letting you upgrade Donkey Kong's abilities.

That depends. I felt that the difficulty spiked when I reached the Forest and Tempest layers. But overall it is fairly easy.

Hmm, I was hoping for something similar to Odyssey tbh, which I thought struck a good balance...

I hated mario + rabbids: sparks of hope as I found it insultingly easy (not that the OG was hard but the challenge missions def required some headscratching).

DKB is a very different animal (no pun intended) so I'll reserve judgement, but I normally find a decent level of challenge is integral to a good game...
