That DK redesign doesn't vibe with me as much, but it's also better than the one in MK World so I'll take it .
Game looks like a cool action platformer which I'm glad they went with him basically using his physical prowess to destroy the terrain and torpedoed himself into the ground.

People are gonna pull some crazy moves there !

Anywoo, 3D Mario is obviously coming eventually, people need to chill considering the presentation was mostly focused on the first 3-6 months period. With likely more to be shown for this Holiday season with a presentation this Summer.

I'm assuming 3D Mario will be announced Holiday 2025 with a 2026 release due to the fact that the next movie just got announced a moment ago to be released next year.

Yeah I don’t get why people think we are getting or need a new 3D Mario this year, in a ~6 month period Switch 2 is getting:

Major Exclusives-Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza

Major cross gen titles-Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon Legends ZA

Medium tier exclusives-Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Air Riders

Ports with added content-Mario Party Jamboree, Kirby Forgotten Land

Basic Enhanced Ports-Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom

Small tier exclusives-Welcome Tour, Drag x Drive

There could be another surprise or two announced at their Summer Direct but this is absolutely a stacked launch year already.

Indeed, this lineup is close enough to the original's Switch's 2017, obviously with three months less to fill. There's a tentpole game in each quarter (meaning a game that can sell 10m+ copies over the course of its life) as well as enough complementary software.

In case someone can't figure out what the tentpoles are: Mario Kart World in CQ2, Donkey Kong Bananza in CQ3 and Pokémon Legends Z-A in CQ4. At the same time a few of the enhanced ports shouldn't be underestimated because they have the potential to sell 10m+ too; these are the two Zelda games and Mario Party. Although it wouldn't be surprising to see them fall short when upgrade packs for them will be available digitally at a much lower cost.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

They're going all out with it's first fiscal year. ^^

I think there’s a high probability this game started as the much rumored Odyssey 2 for Switch, before Nintendo said they really needed a DK game again and it was reworked and moved to S2.

I think there is a near 0% chance that this is the case.

Why? I never said they “scrapped 3D Mario” for this. Obviously they’ve been working on both if this started out as 3D Mario. Which explains why it’s been a decade since we heard from them. Even more reason to think this could be the case.

Plus Nintendo could be doing the smart thing and trying to bring more mainstream attention to Donkey Kong.

It certainly wouldn’t be the first time Nintendo has waited for mainline Mario. Galaxy and 3D World were a full year after launch, and Sunshine was 9 months. So if anything, that’s more the norm than launch window is. 64 and Odyssey were more exceptions.

What's everybody make of the ostrich lady DK was interacting with in the trailer? I thought she was Expresso from the original Donkey Kong Country for a moment.

I didn't think you said that. There is almost nothing about this game that screams mario in any way. I feel like the most likely scenario is they just wanted to make a donkey kong game.

Can't blame them, especially to make up for mostly ignoring DK for the past 11 years, which is just so disrespectful of them to do to the titular character of their first big gaming success story outside Japan. Almost as bad as how Warner Bros. has been treating Looney Tunes since the early 2020s.

Like a lot of people already said. It looks like a crossover between Zelda and Mario Odyssey, but with Donkey Kong. It doesn't look like a DK world. Not really hyped about this game. But if it turns out to be really fun to play, I'll happily change my mind.
