Word can not express how disappointed I am, I got so excited thinking I'd have a 60 hour more challenging Stellar Blade experience to not having it so suddenly. I am very saddened.
The game is very much underrated, I can't stop playing the demo, it's phenomenal despite it's silly stanima and posture systems being the same meter. Definitely buying it, Rise of The Ronin is hood but the parrys feel shit. I'd reckon Khazan could easily come close to a 10/10; if not a strong 9. The combat system is just such a perfect blend of Sekiro and Souls.
The combat is SO good people, like top their stuff. The level design is ass but the combat and the enemies and bosses you engage with that combat is staggeringly good. The game hasn't hooked me yet past the combat but while I'm away I'm constantly thinking about how fun the duel blades and parrying system is, the parring is reminiscent of Stellar Blade than Sekiro just with more of a pull back and wait approach instead of bringing aggression to the enemy, the version of the mikiri counter is extremely forgiving, the parrying itself is extremely forgiving but it's more difficult in other ways, getting hit here is very punishing pushing for even more patient and methodical play. Oh and you can load into a level AT THE BOSS for farming gear sets or just to try them out again which is a fantastic alternative to the gaunlets of Sekiro which I can't believe hasn't been done before and you get rewarded for attempting that boss, the further you get the more Souls you gain which pushes you do try more before you give up and going off to grind doesn't feel like anything you would want to do. Loads of GoL stuff like that, insta rebuild your specs and what not. Just a treat of good ideas. And a game thst runs perfectly in performance with super clean image quality as long as you limit the FPS in the setting to avoid frame pacing. On the down side there is a lot of clipping, especially the camera and the environment doesn't get blurred when the camera passes through which is extremely aggravating and shadows are non existent it the game which leads to a weird feeling that the character doesn't match with the environment.
It is as if a Dark Souls fame got a mod to play like Sekiro and a damn good mod at that. If you play these games for the combat, the bosses and the enemies and your willing to adjust to the fact that you won't be very aggressive cause of stanima management which prevents flow state gameplay in favour of slower methodical play but rewarding play at that then you're going to have a great time. If you play these games for the traversal and level design being a satisfying progression and see bosses as an obstacles to force or cheese your way through then you're likely not going have a good time. If you're new to Souls games or the Sekiro style, I would not suggest this as an entry point. Go play Stellar Blade in normal difficulty. For me, this has could be of masterpiece level if it's only the level design I have to forgive and there isn't something that falls apart later on, I feel it's already exceeding Nioh and perhaps Nioh 2 also.
