wow, NSW cratered this week. Sub 30k is significantly weaker than expected…

I wonder if this number is due to the attention Monster Hunter Wilds gave to PS5 or the imminent decline due to Switch 2's arrival

Given that PS5 sales is collapsing as well its likely that the console hardware market is unappealing in Japan right now, with all consoles generally far from their peak sales and the Switch has likely reached market saturation point.

King Switch will increase to 40k next week

I expect PS5 to sell around 20k next week and Switch to stay in the near of 30k.

I thought the Switch would stay in the 30's this month but nope it's already down to the 20's with one of its worst weeks ever and its worst in 5 years. This could easily end up being a relatively bad March week with the next one being notably higher with help from Xenoblade Chronicles X and the public holiday happening in Japan today but even then that discussion towards the end of the last thread is already looking a bit funny in hindsight. Despite some unrealistic expectations it's still doing really well for its age though.

The PS5 dropped by nearly half so once again a bigger drop compared to the equivalent week for the PS4 so while factors like the higher price and same day PC release didn't seem to impact the launch week much it looks like it might've notably impacted the following few weeks. It should be back to where it was before Wilds by the end of March.

We are less than 15 days away from the big Switch 2 reveal. I wouldn't really worry about Switch sales at this point. The future will be riding on the price of the successor. If it comes in a $399 we should absolutely expect the Switch sales to crater without a price drop.

Most probably Switch 2 reveal being around the corner, as both MHW and PS5 being down, too

I expect retailers to simply take less Switch1 stock with the Switch2 around the corner.

I'm expecting a May 15th Launch date in the major markets US, Europe and Japan. With other markets to follow later. Why I believe this date?

1) There is a conspicuous 20 day gap in May with the Switch2 events taking place, with a string of events happening before and after that.
2) San Fransisco Nintendo Store has its opening day at the 15th of May, what better time for visitors to buy Switch2.
3) Lego Mario Kart is launching the 15th of May, which is strange because all previous Nintendo Lego sets launched the 1st of the Month. But with Mario Kart 9 a launch game, this would make sense.

The last time switch was below 30k was when it was out stock in 2020.

If Switch is already under 30K in weekly sales, seems pretty likely it will soon start dipping under 20K weekly sales in April when the marketing campaign for Switch 2 kicks into gear. The fact that Switch seemingly won't have any first party releases after Xenoblade X in many months also means that it will be hard for Switch sales to stay affloat.

People still doubting of Switch…
