I agree now tell that to all those clowns who insist the PS2 owed its success to DVD.

I think that was only really true for the launch in Japan. It was cheap for a DVD player and the best selling media with PS2 in Japan wasn't any games but The Matrix on DVD. As time went on I think the whole DVD thing got overstated. Hell We got our first DVD player in 2001 at 150 bucks. Also Sony brand. Lasted me 11 years.

Now it would make more sense if the PS3 George Foreman model made up most of the sales but between YLOD and Slim models they are likely to make up less than 10% of the sales.

Ps1 by far then comes PS3, PS4. IMO the Ps2 is wildly overrated
PS1 to me is peak Japanese third party developer, specially jrpg.
PS3 is peak Sony exclusives.
PS4 is the triumphant return of Japanese third party developer.
Ps2 to me is the GTA platform. I dislike GTA.

Not going to say you're wrong. Just I don't get the PS2 reasoning. I'm not a GTA fan either but the system has over 4000 games and plays PS1 games. You shun it over 2 games in a library of 4000? PS1 had GTA 1-2

That's not how the question was meant. A gaming system is a means to play games, so for many, perhaps even for most, the best system is the one with the best games. |
Yeah, I know. Maybe the question should be worded a bit differently, though.
Also, there's a nostalgia factor to consider. Would your favorite PS1 games really hold up today if you had to play them?

Still play kings field a lot(2)
Really liked wild arms last year.

As they're like 30 years old now and technology has moved on by lightyears since, they have of course aged, but I would argue that games like Crash or Spyro are still good today.
The fact that gaming has continued to evolve since also doesn't erase the amazing times I had with them in the day.

I mean if you also dislike GTA like the rest of PS2's insane library, what's the point of mentioning it at all? lol.
I didn't own the PS1, I did own the PS2 but played the Gamecube more. The PS4 is my favorite Sony console by a big margin, although I had a great time with the PS3 as well.
