Forums - Sales - Monster Hunter Wilds is around the corner. Let's predict first week sales!

As of Capcom's latest quarterly report, the game moved just 634k; less than even the nearly 5-year-old MH Rise:

Capcom seem to have really misfired with this one; it has an explosive launch, but since then it's legs have been poor, likely due to negative word of mouth regarding its performance and design choices.

That is unbelieavble bad legs for a big, multiplatform game. It had a similar launch as TOTK (exclusive on Switch), and its legs after launch seem to be even worse than the famously bad legs of TOTK, which should be almost impossible to achieve for a big multiplatform release like MH Wilds.

Jesus it's even worse than that; apparently that 634k figure is for the last TWO quarters, with the most recent quarter adding just 160k.

That's catastrophically bad, for comparison's sake Monster Hunter Rise, which came out in early 2021, sold 254k in the last quarter, so more than 50% more than the entry that just came out.

Fucking hell, what a mess.

Yeah it's a disaster, but it's totally deserved. Maybe the expansion + Switch 2 port + pricecut will remedy some of the damage, but it just won't hit its original potential.

This is getting me to think about GTA6. If it doesn't live up to the hype, GTA5 may also catch up to it. Perceived quality does matter after all.
