Forums - Gaming - The Best Video Game Music of 2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong just came out, and though I haven't yet played the game, I did take a listen to the score as the composer posted the full thing on Youtube, and it's quite exceptional. Not sure whether it's better than the first game's, have to listen to it in context once I get to the game itself, but I'm certain it's among the best original scores of the year.

I still say super metroid has good music even in 2025

One new score to add as I got around to listening Ghost of Yotei's soundtrack. Still probably not quite among the year's very best, but still excellent stuff in my opinion.

The video game music in 2025 has been amazing So many games this year had soundtracks that really stood out and added so much to the experience. Whether it was emotional, exciting or just super catchy the music helped bring the games to life

Any specific recommendations you might have that aren't already on the first post? I can add them to the list if you mention any.

Took a listen to the Sword of the Sea soundtrack recently, and as expected from Austin Wintory it is quite excellent.

I think Christopher Larking with Silksong has evolved his composing skills in the same way Toby Fox did with DELTARUNE. Both HK and Undertale have exceptional sountracks, but both Silksong and DELTARUNE have (in my opinion) more polished and refined tunes.

Have I already mentioned Silksong’s OST? Just incredible!

Playing through Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment now and the soundtrack, from the team behind Nier Automata and Stellar Blade's phenomenal music, is spectacular

I'll add it to the list.
