Yes, they seem to lowball estimates. Last year they estimated 22m DS and 14m Wii.

Could someone post the full numbers, since i'm on my mobile and can't read PDF. Nintendo propably increases their predictions in every quarterly reports by a million per two per report.

Personally I would say between 50 million to 60 million by end of 08 Nintendo loves to lowball everything I mean they upped production a few times last year who's to say they won't do it again plus they want to get the majority of their stock out there for Christmas so theres my reasons for my prediction. (Buy some Nintendo stock =)

One interesting thing I noticed in their report is that for the DS there are many more software titles released in Japan compared to North America and Others but with the Wii it's the opposite. It found it surprising since I expected just based on the DS that the Wii would have more titles out in Japan than elsewhere.

So VGChartz is almost exactly right on, eh? I hope Nintendo produces more, the people on my street would kill for a Wii, and I have one x_x. Holiday is gonna be filled with rabbid wolves hunting for the Wii.

Just to give you an idea of how much operating profit they made, from 2001-2006, the prime years of the PS2, Sony's operating profit in the gaming division totaled $2.3 billion.

Nintendo just doubled that in one year.

So they shipped ~4.5m over projections. I would guess we can expect similar numbers this year, so we could possibly see 30m shipped this fiscal year. Based on that, I'm going to say were looking at 48-50m Wii's by Dec 31st 08.

2008 DS Software Sales:
Nintendo's Estimate: 130m
Actual: 187m

2008 Wii Software Sales:
Nintendo's Estimate: 55m
Actual: 120m

They sold a whopping 122 million software units above their estimate.
