Yo, everyone!

The final point tally will be real soon at the start of the new year, but while we await the epic conclusion to this year’s league, I’ll have to break the news that this might be final year as host for the OpenCritic Prediction League, at least if I can find a replacement. A bit ironic now that I just stepped in as replacement on the Greatest Game Event, but I’ve been considering it for a while since I’m not as interested in new releases as I used to be, though I’d still love to join in with somebody else as host.

If anybody would be willing to take over they can send me a message and copy as much or as little as they want to from this year’s thread, I’m even willing to set up the new thread and send it to them in a word document if you want as it’s mostly maintaining it throughout the year I’m less keen on.

If however nobody else is interesting in hosting I will probably still make a thread for the new year but with fewer games and only the really big new reveals added throughout the year.

The distinguished top 3 for total points is:

And there you have it, congratulations to everyone who made the podium! Really an extremely close call for the top this year considering how many games there were. I somehow managed to nap my first win (from what I recall), but gotta give an extra big shoutout to the runner-up @Koragg , I feel a little bad about adding Elden Ring: Nightreign so close to release which was the only game he missed. Of course, I'm sure he would have gotten less than 2 points on it :P

Thanks to everybody who joined this year! I also have one Super Important Announcement to make. Starting in 2026 @firebush03 will be taking over as host for the event! It's been fun to host the event the last several years but running a prediction league is a young man's game! I will still be joining as a participant and I hope you will all give @firebush03 a warm welcome and join in once the new thread gets up and running! Cheers!

That was good fun. Nintendo once again brought my score down but they also gave me a couple of perfect predictions, so I ain't complaining! Congrats on the win and thanks for everything lord @UnderwaterFunktown. I look forward to your work @firebush03!

To all: I will be entertaining a few (minor) changes to the approach of future prediction leagues. I will keep you all posted on details in the near future. If you have any requests and recommendations, please let me know. I am all ears!

The 2026 Prediction League thread will be up and running within the next 24 hours (and it’s looking to be a stacked year). I’ll tag all when everything is up and running.

EDIT: May need a few more hours before I publish the 2026 Prediction League. Getting things organized in Excel, and currently deciding on the games to choose.
