That sounds good, but having more power than the OG would be better. |
Huh yes ? It is partially the point of a successor to offer more power than its predecessor.

Happy to see the little lights are gone. My OCD was not a fan of those.

this is such a disaster lol. What on earth is Nintendo thinking?? They are usually very good at "keeping their cards close to their chest", so I'm really stunned at how horribly they're handling the confidentiality of their next system. I genuinely wonder whether they set-up the production of NSW2 in such a way to allow for these leaks to occur, so as to generate word-of-mouth buzz.

I mean, it isn't that different from the yearly, all-encompassing iPhone / Galaxy leaks and it's mainly a symptom of announcing too close to release.
But it's just a few percent of buyers that will even be aware of these leaks, anyway.

Nintendo are very good at keeping their cards close to their chest. I know people on hardcore gaming forums go all crazy over this, but games sell consoles, not hardware images. Have we even had a single actual leak of a game? A single screenshot? We don't know anything about Nintendo's first party output for the console. There are rumors of an improved version of BotW having been shown to the press and of Mario Kart 9 (which anyone could guess, it's a total no-brainer). But nothing else so far. I'd say Nintendo is incredibly good at keeping their cards close to their chest and these leaks are not going to soften the hype around the console in any way. To the contrary, they are increasing the hype-levels. Everyone's talking about the hardware right now.

yeah, you're not wrong. (Especially not abt the detail that very few of all buyers will even see these leaks.) i'm just saying that one might expect for Nintendo to be *extra* careful in making sure the one system the release every 5-8y doesn't have all it's non-software details leaked prior to official reveal.

hm...not sure how to respond to this? I agree that software sells, and software leaks are truthfully the only important leaks which would matter for casual consumers, but -- knowing how well Nintendo likes to have a complete grasp on anything-and-everything Nintendo related -- I'd imagine the higher-ups at Nintendo are not too greatly pleased with these leaks, even if they are generating tons of buzz. To have the logo, the hardware specs, the fully physical system, many new features of the NSW2 Joy Cons, etc., all leak out weeks before reveal is a disaster. I'd be hard-pressed to find any way you can spin this perspective.
Also, while I do agree Nintendo is exceptionally good at keeping their cards close to their chest, it is undeniable that software leaks happen all the time for them. (i) Pyoro has dropped teasers for every Nintendo Direct over the past 2y. (ii) Since we're on the topic of "blowout presentations", the 2017 Nintendo Switch Blowout Event had nearly every single game leaked beforehand. (iii) Nearly every NSW game over the past several year has been dumped online several weeks prior to release.
This combined with the recent NSW2 dumps, I question whether Nintendo truly is able to keep their cards close to their chest...

Ever consider this is all just the scrapped “Switch Pro” we’re seeing and Nintendo has purposely gotten it out there as a decoy? The real successor could be something much different than a very slightly different looking Switch. |
