First of all, I wish all you guys a happy new year! May 2025 be a much better year than 2024 for you, with lots of great things, love, gaming, and all the good stuff.
Well, Hideaki Nishino, the Sony Interactive Entertainment co-CEO has told in a interview to Famitsu about plans for the future of Playstation. While we all agree that the PS5 was damaged by the pandemic and all that bad things after lauch, many of us thought that it's generation would be extended, turning out to be longer than the usual range. But that may not happen at all.
Hideaki says that the Playstation 6 won't be delayed, even with all that has happened. A generation usually lasts around 7 years, and Sony plans to keep it that way with the PS5.
He also affirms that when the time for the Playstation 6 comes, it will coexists with the PS5, just like this system is coexisting with the PS4 up to this day, so there won't be a reason for a delay.
So I think it's safe to say that a successor for the Playstation 5 should be arriving around 2027-2028, even if it has suffered through shortages for quite some time. Let's hope for the best.
