Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Footage emerges of cancelled Wii build of Star Wars Battlefront III

Battlefront 1 on the Xbox was my most played and one of my favourite games of the 6th generation, I would've absolutely loved this, pointer aiming especially would've been a great addition.

Really sucks this never saw release.

Oh man, even the motion controlls looked on point! On the Wii, with its criminal lack of shooters and with Star Wars at the height of its popularity after the prequels, this could have sold more than 10 million copies easily. Why made them think canning it was a good idea??

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Damn, the game looks to have been practically done, except a bit of bug fixing and optimization. They released some footage of the X360 built some years back, which looked really rough, but Free Radical Design were also quite inexperienced in HD development. The Wii version looks much closer to done. I hope there will be a way to get this game released, I am sure modders can fix the bugs.
It's a true tragedy that it was cancelled, it must have been heart breaking for the developers. I looks like it would have been a much more satisfying swan song than Haze.

Those flat areas and low-res textures. That looks PS2 lol

Well, the Wii was about that powerful, so it's not that big of a surprise.

Damn. Had bought one if it had been released. Just the game you wanted on motion controls.

I haven't watched the footage yet, but maybe the unfinished game is more finished than released messes like Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).

I don't know what would've been worse: what happened in real life or Battlefront III releasing buggy and poorly optimized.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

If this actually came out I could see it being one of my favourite third party Wii games, up there with the likes of Monster Hunter Tri and Goldeneye 007.
Who knows, maybe folks can stitch together what's there into a playable form.

A whole bunch more footage from various modes:

It doesn't sting as much as the non-release of Rogue Leaders, a game that was completed but never came out because of Factor 5's implosion. But it would have been really cool to have, especially if they could have done the IR aiming well or managed to implement motion-plus for the lightsabers.
