Forums - Politics Discussion - What is a "Woke" Game

Unironically that's what most people do (like 2/3rds) (if we ignore dragon born, for its special).

human, half-elf, elf... are the most popular picks by far.  People play as normal looking straight white humans... or as close to as possible.

"you should be ashamed of yourself"

That's just more name calling.
You disagree with someones view point, and say they should be ashamed of themselves? really?

"You're sincerely just making things up and presenting your fantasy version of reality to justify your stance. I cannot correct that. The statements you're making just don't fit with reality. The claims your making are not based on facts."

Ubisoft 4-5years ago, had a stock value of 85 euro pr share.
Today their stock value pr share is barely above 12 euro pr share.
They lost alot of value as a company.
They spent a fortune on making games, this year.

Bioware, is at risk..... how is that made up? They made like 3-4 flops in a row.... EA has a graveyard of studios they killed, for not being profitable enough.
If Mass Effect isn't profitable, they could be closed down.

"while ranting about it and aggressively screaming about wokeness sends a message of 'not only do I not want this but this shouldn't be allowed'."

I think the problem is we view wokeness as different things.
There has long been representation in video games.  You can't act like its a new thing there are women, black characters ect in games.
Even gay or lesbian characters,.... that stuff has been around forever.

I don't even say that it shouldn't be allowed.... I'm saying when woke goes in overdrive,.... its killing studios.
Because it does not appeal to enough people.  While the masses are let down, by the effects it has on games.

Seriously look at the character designs in concord, that cames from DEI/woke policies.
The public rejected it, they didn't like the characters.  Stuff like that has consequences.
The studio is now closed, and people were let go... and Sony lost like 400m on it.

YOu are not making the points you think you are and using asmongold is the worst way to support yourself.

Burn it down. Burn the whole thread. Set it alight, I say.

Why not. This thread is a raging garbage fire. And that should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody.

The first photos Google shows in the ad had poor lighting. As a solution, Google sells some feature called real tone on their Pixel phone rather than tell their target audience that cameras need good lighting to take good pictures.

I view this like an insurance salesman selling volcano insurance in an area with no volcano close by. A dishonest salesman will show the horrors of volcano eruptions to their target audience and hide the fact that there is no volcano in the area.

I'm calling Google dishonest in the ad and to top this dishonesty off, they add a fake veneer of social consciousness to their marketing. I find this appeal-to-emotion marketing obnoxious. And while I dislike using the word 'woke', if I had to use it, this ad would qualify as 'woke' in my book.

To answer your question, no. Any product aimed at someone who isn't white is NOT what I consider 'woke'.

It's the deceptive element in Google's ad that I'm offended by.

Even if you believe its deceptive which mind you just about any advertisement for any product can be, you seem to only be defining this one as woke because it targets a group that is non white.  A deceptive marketing or ad would just be deceptive not woke.  What I am saying is that you are expanding the definition of woke to basically fit anything you do not like. So in this instance you do not like Google advertisement and feel its deceptive which mind you is just your opinion since one you are not a dark skinned person so you really cannot test to see if this actually works as advertise.  Actually now that I written the above, I guess for you woke is "Stuff I do not like, that represent a group I have no affiliation with".

No, I call it woke because it puts on an act of social consciousness that masks a deception. There's nothing wrong with a product targeting a particular demographic or sexual orientation or skin color or social cause; I wouldn't call that woke. I despise the deception and when something mixes deception with social consciousness, I am tempted to call it 'woke'.
