Forums - Gaming - The PSOne had a screen attachment on it. Does that make it a portable console?

I see a lot of people claiming the NSW is a portable console because it can be played on the go. Well, the PSOne could also be played on the go with the screen attachment. If you consider the NSW a portable console because it can be played on the go, then you must be consistent and consider the PSOne a portable console too. What do you think about this, and people being inconsistent with their views towards PSOne and NSW both being "portable consoles", even when they had the same feature.

And What of Good Solonius?

Is the power source some form of battery and not require a external power device like a power brick or adapter to run?

If no, then its not a portable.

I have to go with yes because of the screen on the console. If my math is correct this makes the PS One the second best selling handheld of all time!

No. By that logic Xbox Series S is portable because there's a monitor that you can buy and attach to it.

LOL this is so funny I can't even be angry. I'm cool with it as, I think my thread has run it's course anyway.

The difference between the PSP and PSOne screen argument is, the PSP would only need the cable/controller accessories function as console. The PSOne however would require you to buy a battery, which is a another product entirely. The battery would need to come packaged in so it would form one whole product. Then people will say "but that's just a laptop". PCs/Laptops are open platforms and consoles are closed platforms.

What's the PSP have to do with this?
