Wouldn't this practically give Sony a monopoly on the anime industry?

And Jesus, Sony basically owning Anime and also Manga can't be good. I would like to see at least a little competition here.

Sony and Kadokawa are currently in the early stages of negotiations, so nothing is finalized.

Given how "Western" Sony has become, I'm not sure I want this to happen.

Kadokawa owns a ridiculous amount of IP so I can definitely see the appeal for Sony but I'd prefer that content to remain distinctly Japanese. Sony seems vulnerable to social pressure from the rest of the world.

On the other hand, it's quite possible that Kadokawa could remain mostly autonomous in how it operates, other than Sony using its IP elsewhere.

I wonder how Sony is going to handle this acquisition.

I can see them doing everything but Xbox with new releases but day one multiplatform with established franchises.

You think of SIE, Sony Interactive Entertainment, their gaming part. Sony itself seems to be still very much japanese.
