Dark Souls 2

Yes, I am a Dark Souls 2 enjoyer. I’m always hearing how it’s the weakest in the series. And i don’t disagree but… for the game that’s the weakest in the series i found it really enjoyable personally. I think many of the environments are more visually appealing compared to the environments in the other games and provide a bit more variety for the player. The main hub area is my favorite in the series with some great music to go along with it.. The game in my opinion has some of the best looking armor sets and weapons. I found myself changing to different sets more often because they looked so good.

The only thing that was a bit disappointing was how easy most of the game's bosses were. I thought the enemy mobs provided a bigger challenge than any boss in this game. For a game series known for its challenging boss fights I found most of the bosses here cheesy and forgettable but I still had fun fighting them. There is the issue with the adaptability stat which affects the i-frames on dodge rolls. This didn’t cause much issue for me because I knew about the mechanic beforehand and just leveled appropriately. I think if the mechanic had been explained better in game it would have resulted in less frustration from players.

Dark Souls 2 is a really good game and doesn’t deserve most of the hate it gets. I encourage more people to give it a fair chance.

Okay, time to close out my trilogy of posts with a trilogy of hints.

#33 - The good guys fight with fake guns. The bad guys fight with real guns. But dogs don't need no guns.
#32 - Probably the apex of the industry's obsession with making the biggest open world ever.
#31 - The game that introduced the "dark" version of this series' protagonist, though a game 2 years prior had this protagonist's "evil clone".

33) Persona 3, nice hint

#37 - Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (PC)

This is slowly becoming one of my favorite FPSs. Infinite Warfare has some incredible graphics, intense action, and weapons very fun to use. I don't play Call of Duty online, so I can only tell for the Campaign, what is being an amazing experience for me. One of the best games I played this year.

#36 - New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U)

Super Mario Bros. U is my favorite game in the New series. An overworld that is a lot of fun to explore, some great levels, and even if it was made for Wii U, the local multiplayer is really addicting and accessible. I enjoyed every world, and even if it's not very different from the Wii version, it's still a very memorable experience.

#35 - Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

This is very likely my favorite Wii U game, and one of my favorite Super Mario games. One of the best soundtracks I ever heard, and a lot of levels and things to do. I spend a lot of time searching for everything, and both me and my mom had a very fun time with this one. I have very fond memories of it. If I had discovered about it earlier, maybe it would be even higher in my list.

Guessed by @UnderwaterFunktown

On the year Persona 3 got its remake, it rises up the list... a little. See, I never actually finished playing through Reload - I was playing it together with a friend whenever I visited him, so we made progress little by little until it just kinda fizzled out, understandably so because we've both played through the original.

Reload is weird. It's underwhelming in a lot of ways I wish it wasn't, but it's also a dramatic improvement over the original in mostly every area. I wish the graphics were better in Tatsumi Port Island. I wish the music hadn't been remade, or that at the very least they'd kept the original singer and not hired the frog choir to do the instruments in Mass Destruction. I wish the original voices hadn't been recast, even if the old cast was hit-or-miss, it was iconic and the new cast is hit-or-miss too. And I know I'm 100% alone on this, but I actually liked not having direct control over the other characters in the original - I know that's still an option in Reload, but I tried using it and it's obvious the game wasn't really made with it in mind, the AI is very bad.

Anyway I'm just rambling about the differences between FES and Reload like any of that matters. The point is: Persona 3 is great. Whatever version of it, really. And yeah overall Reload is the best, no question.

FULL LIST >>

Current list - https://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread/248646/post-only-once-the-official-thread-the-15th-annual-greatest-games-event/4/#4

46 - The Adventures of Alundra (MISS) (incorrect guesses - Psychonauts)
- The playable character is like the antithesis of Freddy Krueger - he enters people’s dreams to help them, not kill them
- A top down Zelda-like game exclusive to one of Nintendo’s rivals in the 5th gen. This was a Playstation exclusive
- Seen by some as a spiritual successor to an isometric action RPG released for the Genesis, this game itself had a sequel which, aside from the name, had no real ties to its predecessor. The Genesis game in question here is Landstalker, which was made by some of the same development team as Alundra.

43 - GoldenEye 007
- Several of the multiplayer modes and control schemes in this game are references to the IP the game is part of.
- Those references being names of films / books, and names of female characters, respectively.
- When talking about the best licenced games, this fifth gen first person shooter is sure to be in the conversation.

42
- For the first time in this sub series, a playable character has different initials than all the others.
- Pink and blue
- The two playable characters from the first game are now the ones that need to be saved.

39 - Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
- Whether or not this game has a subtitle depends on the region of release. If you remove the subtitle, then it shares its name with two other games in the series.
- This game, along with two others that were first released on the same piece of hardware, is now available to play on modern consoles.
- This was a whip-cracking launch title for a popular handheld.

38
- This sequel introduces a few new enemies, but only one new weapon, which itself is more an upgrade of an existing weapon.
- One new enemy is a particularly vile creature who can resurrect fallen foes.

37 - Resident Evil (Remake)
- What was once dead, may fall and still rise again. Fire or decapitation may help in that regard.
- A remake of an influential game that was released six years earlier.

36 - Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
- Crowdfunded spiritual successor to a major, long running franchise.

35
- At various points in the game, you’re given a choice of which team mate’s plan you want to go along with. One leads to more puzzle orientated routes, the other combat orientated.

34
- You’ll start this game in the same environment that the previous game ended in, although one of the playable characters is different.

It seems main character hints are hard enough, so I will continue on like this. Unless you are similarly name blind as I, and gameplay elements are much easier to remember, hmmm.

You are correct on both my friend.

Multiplayer modes in Goldeneye include You Only Live Twice and The Man With the Golden Gun, whilst the control schemes are named after Bond girls (eg Solitaire, Domino, Honey, Goodnight etc). I sunk so many hours into this game when I was younger (both single player and multiplayer), and it's still fun to play these days.

And yes, Circle of the Moon was simply called Castlevania in PAL regions, meaning it shared its name with the original NES game and the first N64 game. Another game I've spent hours on over the years.

#35 - You could apply the title of another franchise game to this one, as long as there were enough [blank] to submerge an entire [blank]

#34 - This ambitious game came to NSO just last month, more proof that Nintendo and Microsoft are on great terms

#33 - This GBA remake includes an emulated version of the original

#32 - This PS3 game kickstarted a new sub-genre and inspired many recent works

#31 - While this game didn't introduce an important musical instrument to the series, it was the first to make it pivotal
