Alan Wake at 856p. WTF like.

So if developers use the additional power for a resolution boost you complain that the resolution boost is "utterly useless".

And if developers use the additional power for other enhancements instead like better reflections, you complain about the resolution.

So funny!

These differences should be easy to see on your 50'' TV 10 feet away:

It's not really 800p though it's being upscaled by PSSR. When PS3 was giving us 800p resolution we didn't have AI upscaling avaliable for it to be upscaled to 4k. For instance they tested stellar blade running at 4k native resolution and then tested stellar blade running at a lower resolution and then being upscaled by PSSR to 4k. They said the version using PSSR looked better than native 4k. Also Alan Wake 2 has another mode that has a higher internal resolution but that mode only runs at 30 FPS but includes RT as well.

I don't think people understand what PSSR/DLSS is. It's literally the future of gaming. It's why Oliver is saying the PS4 to PS4P isn't as big as PS5 to PS5P because introducing AI upscaling to consoles is a huge deal.

Yeah, I get it now. I thought it was 800p with PISSER on. How do we know what the resolution with PISSER on is then? Is there tech to give us an idea cause it's def doesn't look like 4k from what I can see.

Not to sure how we know. DF seems to have the the tools to measure all that.

DF has a load of content up right now, I don't want to watch 3 hours of footage to find Alan Wake. Any idea what they say the resolution is with PISSER?

Basically the same way you have always done it.
I think its like you freeze frame or screen capture, find a object thats aliased, and start counting pixels and length ect.
Its a whole math thing... takes forever.

There are devices that can do that stuff as well.  So you don't manually have to go pixel count stuff.
(alot of games have dynamic resolution scaling, so it jumps up and down, depending on how strained the gpu is)

Anyways have you seen metaphor refantazio how that runs on PS5pro ?

On PS5 / Xbox Series X, its always like 40-50 (rarely 60) fps.
PS5pro, turn on gameboost mode, and its running the same resolution as the PS5/XSX, but now its just a flawless locked 60fps.

That stuff is amazing.

Yeah, but it's not a window simulator nor is it a water based game. This is even more pointless, plus it's better to be able to actually see in the window imo.

RT is basically a contrast boost away from reflective surfaces. I've seen mods that overhaul games provide better visual upgrades than RT for a fraction of the power.

But fools and their money or fat cats and their cash and all that. It makes little difference to me. It's the poor fools selling their PS5's that I feel sorry for, some already getting stuck with a PRO and no disc drive in stock with resellers doubling the price and more wasted money. I know if my PRO was sitting there without a disc drive I'm giving into the resellers demands.

Yeah, if metaphors aliasing is gone with the pro that's something I can get behind. To actually be able to see the art work under the aliasing is a worthy upgrade. That's something I can support.

Don't think it has a patch, so its running the same as the other consoles.
Its just running a flawless 60fps (instead of a unstable 40-50 fps, you might have a base PS5 or XSX).

As far as I know, only 97 games (so far) have Pro patches.
This gameboost option is just something that allows you to run the game with more power... so the fps ect are better.

Yeah, I'm familiar with game boost from PS4 PRO. In the PS5 PRO'S favour, 97 is a good number, actually a surprising number. I seen someone on twitter with a desk setup and a 4k 32 inch monitor, it's these people I'm happy for, they are going to get so much more outta this thing and it beats a PC for the same price by a country mile. Hell it beats some PC's I've seen for double the price. Really Desk users and PSVR2 users are the real winners.

Oh and I seen a figure that said only 420 games support DLSS, that's rather sad for the PC library when you think on how small of a stone that is in such a large pond. PISSER wins in my opinion despite the unfortunate acronym.

I think they call it PSSR.... not PISSER hhahah.

Its PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.

How you got the Piss part I have no idea :P
So if you wanted you could drop that unfortunate acronym.

I think gameboost is honestly the best thing about it so far.
Like Wukong in boss battles, can have drops down to like low 40's.
Meanwhile same boss fight, will have the Pro, running 55+ fps at the same place.

The closer to a stable 60, we can get the better.
PS5pro if nothing else, is gonna give you that in alot of games, that had performance issues on the XSX/PS5.

Also I think theres like 600+ DLSS titles.
Its been around for along time (like 2018? ish or something)

*edit:
This is inline with Digital foundry testing.
When they find a unlocked game and test, or one with dips far enough below 60 to compare both.
They talked about a 35%-40% performance difference between the PS5 and the PS5pro.
That is enough to have a game that would have dips down to like 41 fps, instead have dips down to like 55 fps (wukong).
While some games, where its very cpu bottlenecked, the differnce is much smaller (BG3).

Just to add to this DF didn't test BG3 with the pro patch they are releasing so this could go up even more. I don't think it will because Act 3 is well known to be very CPU heavy but you never know.
