Interesting tidbit about Capcom's sales in Japan.

"The company sold a total of 20.02 million games so far for the fiscal year, which is down 11.4 percent year-on-year. 10.74 million or 54 percent of those sales were digital PC sales, while digital console sales accounted for 8.02 million units or 40 percent of the total. Physical game sales accounted for just 1.26 million units or six percent of the total.

Breaking down the total games sold, there were 3.09 million games sold in Japan"

You don't really see Capcom's games in the top 10 or 30 and I don't remember any major releases for Capcom in this period but they sold over 3m games in 6 months. The physical maximum was 1.26m, but those are worldwide numbers. Likely less than 1m physical sales in Japan (realistically less than 500k), leading to over 66% digital rate. PC is taking more and more marketshare in Japan and worldwide, but I still think console is quite strong in Japan relatively. This likely means a lot of sales on console in Japan are digital.

The ps5 wasn't on track to surpass the ps4's sales in japan and the price increase ruined everything. The only way is to hope that Sony sees that it made a mistake and goes back to the old price next year. If PS5 sales continue at this average of 11 thousand units per week, the generation will end with a maximum of 8 million

Capcom games are much more successful in the West than in Japan. Especially Resident Evil and Devil my cry

This shows what a benefit it is in Japan specifically to have a Switch version of your release. In Japan Romancing Saga 2 had a bigger retail opening than a big new JRPG game like Metaphor, just because Romancing Saga 2 came out on Switch.

And Japanese sales will skew more and more towards PC for Capcom, given that big Capcom games will only come out on Xbox and PS consoles and not on Nintendo consoles, which will be the main console in Japan in the future as well. So Capcom PC sales will only have to compete with declining Xbox and PS consoles in the country, not exactly a challenge for PC in Japan.
