I enjoyed the original version of Yooka Laylee for what it was; it definitely had its shortcomings, but for me its charm carried the day.
To their credit, this new version is apparently much more than a graphical update; gameplay has also been extensively reworked to address the complaints people had with the 2017 edition. Hopefully the core concept can now reach its full potential.
Personally, I'm keen to see what they're doing next in terms of actual new games, as 2019's Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair was phenomenal and showed that the spark that made 90s Rare so great lives on.
