Pure garbage.

Bought one. Have no regrets.

If you buy it for its functionality... Yeah not a good investment. But if you think of it as a collectable. I'm sure most people here have paid 20 or 30 bucks for a neat collectable that's sitting in a drawer or on a shelf and you notice once every few months. So, to pay 100 for a cool collectable that actual has some functionality and I'll likely use every day. Well, I'm ok with that.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Apparently it's selling out all over the place, so while some may scoff at it, there's clearly a market for this kind of novelty.

If it doesn't play Xenoblade X the Key we lost then what is the point

And if you don't get out of bed it plays the New LA night theme, which would make even a coma patient get up to turn it off.

Do we know if it's actual demand, low production, or is it scalpers trying to corner the market? I really don't see people going out of their way to get an alarm clock, of all things...

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Well, not all over the place. I believe the only place it is physically sold is at the Nintendo NY store, and maybe the store they have in Japan.

I went out of my way to get one... Slightly, because it was on my way home from work. When I got there, IIRC there were like 3 people in front of me in the line. Two of them got an Alarmo. Out of curiosity I stayed to see the next two people check out, and another was sold.

So, I would guess they had a pretty reasonable quantity of them.

But how many of them are scalpers hoarding it so they can sell it for more to actual collectors?

To the extent they're being sold at Nintendo NY, I didn't ask, but I can almost guarantee that they would limit it to one or two a person. They've done so at pretty much every launch I've seen them do there.
