Forums - Sales - Astro-Bot or Zelda EoW? Clash of the 2024 September Titans

Which will sell more? Which will perform better with critics?

Astro Bot (Sales & Critical Reception) 20 19.05%

Zelda (Sales & Critical Reception) 36 34.29%

Astro Bot (Sales), Zelda (Critical Reception) 3 2.86%

Astro Bot (Critical Reception), Zelda (Sales) 46 43.81%

Total:105

According to Alinea(not 100% reliable, but more likely to underestimate than overestimate) Astro bot had sold 4.3m by the middle of June 2026. Also of note, it had done 601k year-to-date at that point. So for the rest of the year, with the holiday season to come, it would be very reasonable for it do another 1m, or close to it.

I’d be quite confident in predicting that Astro Bot will clear 1m+ a year for the next few years. 10m looks like a reasonable prediction lifetime.

Also, this is a sell-through number, not the shipped number publishers would use.

Citing Alinea is about as useful as citing the Amazon sales TBH. Not much of use to get from it. Would be nuce if Nintendo and Sony just gave us the exact figures.

Alinea's AstroBot calculation was awful. IIRC it seemed to underestimate unit sales and objectively overestimate revenue (per their own unit sales estimate) because they assumed every copy was sold at a near full price, downplaying discounts and ignoring bundles.

After their laughable RE9 platform split, nobody should mention them anymore. Not that they had a great record before that.
