The film adaption of the Borderlands series has fallen flat on its face at the box office, earning just $16.5 million globally in its opening weekend, against a budget of $115 million, not including the costs of marketing and distribution.

The film also garnered a score of just 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the worst reviewed films of the year so far.

Too bad, Jamie Lee Curtis has been on a role. Jeremy Jahns gave it a bad review. That was all I needed.

But he liked Trapped or The Trap, so want to see that still.

The romantic movie this weekend came out of nowhere, did really well. Thought it was gonna beat Deadpool 3 after Friday's numbers.

The trailer looked bad, so I am not surprised it has flopped. Though it has done even worse than my worst expectations.

Probably too early to say but this will possibly beat Final Fantasy: Spirits Within as the biggest box office bomb for a video game film.

Only thing they can really hope for is a strong overseas. Although overseas has not really helped too many movies this year. Borderlands has a better shot than most though.

Films like The Meg and Despicable Me franchise are just two examples of movies that were either saved by overseas or significantly boosted.

Not saying that is going to happen or make any prediction at all. Just saying a known IP like this has a better chance of being saved than that Harold and the crayon movie or the Romantic Moon landing film that bombed for Sony with a 100 million budget.

Even if overseas does better, still won't make back that budget which needs to be about double.

Yeah sadly about what I was expecting to happen! I really had hope for this, but with all the delays, re-shoots and most of the casting I didn't expect much.

I saw the trailer when I went to Deadpool and Wolverine, which was great by the way, and while I admit I never played any of the games this movie just looked weird to me. Some high-profile actors though.

To the surprise of....no one.

Oof. Currently has a 4.4 rating on IMDb too. I had it on my watchlist, but it's got such catastrophically low fan ratings that I've now removed it. Hopefully studios learn a lesson from this for future video game adaptations.

Lilith in the first game was 22 years old. In the movie, she is played by 55 year old Cate Blanchett. Tannis is in her 30's but is played by 63 year old Jamie Lee Curtis. Moxxi, the literal sex symbol of the game world, is played by 63 year old Gina Gershon.

Roland, who is stoic and serious to a fault, as well as being a massive powerhouse, is played by Kevin Hart. Read that sentence over again.

These are the characters from the games in name only. If they simply wanted to cash in on the fad of movies staring a bunch of over the hill actors then they should have made them completely new characters.

Take Two and Gearbox got freaking swindled.
