Forums - Gaming Discussion - Black Myth Wukong: Review Thread

Don't get me wrong Rangarok is good looking, but those pictures are exactly what I am talking about with PC being way more powerful. The light and shadows are very meh comparative to Black Myth on PC. Consoles just cannot match lighting, shadows, volumetric, particles and sharpness of PC.

And 30 fps can go die in a fire. I do not understand how people are ok with 30 fps. I get it is an opinion, but man **** 30 fps.

edit

not that it matters, but man you guys are underrating a gtx 1080.  It obliterates the ps4 and was available in 2016.  It would run RDR2 so much better than a ps4.  Hell many PC gamers are still rocking with their gtx 1080 even today.  It will run most modern games.  I mean hell, a 1080 would run Rift Apart at medium settings, 1080p at 60 fps..  it isn't that far off from a ps5..  like literally not that far from a ps5.  The ps5 is a 2070s, roughly.  Which is only about 10-12% more performance than a gtx 1080 back in 2016....

You need a 3k PC to run black myth properly and actually look amazing and yes the lighting in black myth is clearly better, but it just shows how small these graphical jumps are, and this is a damn is cross gen game. Keep in mind this game is using mostly ps4 assets and lighting.

To some degree I'm aligned.  But I do think screenshots is a poor way to compare graphics.  Dynamic special effects like shadows, particles, volumetric and lighting have more impact in motion than pics.

TLoU Part looks great in screenshots compared to Dead Space Remake.  But in motion Dead smokes it.

I also think YouTube is poor.  Videos are compressed and do not represent actual big screen play.

Point being I think the jump is bigger than people think it is.

edit

I say that because I did a lot of research before building a rig.  And my expectations were blown away because firsthand graphical jumps are way bigger than what it would appear via online videos/pics.  I was expecting minor to medium jumps, but the jump was quite massive.  Even on older games like Borderlands 3.  The reflections are crazy better on PC.

I played dead space cause i kept hearing how graphically nextgen on ps5 it was and honestly GOW smokes it. I also prefer RE4 graphically. I just love the IQ in GOW:ragnorak. all these nextgen games with the so called nextgen effects don't look better cause FSR destroys the IQ on ps5.

I can't speak for Dead on ps5.  I played the PC version at ultra + 4k + 80-120 fps.  It was fantastic.

FSR is rather junk.  I haven't been impressed with it.  DLSS is much better.  The problem with the ps5 is scaling is attempting to take low resolutions (720p to 900p) and make it look 4k...  modelling doesn't work like that.  More data input, better output.  Modelling works with native 1440p to 4k, because there is enough data.  Same goes for frame generation.  FG is hot garbage for 30 fps..  now if you have 60-80 fps, yeah FG is magically.

Show me something on PC that looked better than this game on PC. Running on a 1080 or as you said a 980. Pleeease.

Edit: Lol, all the PC players salty in the comments.

Okay this has nothing to do with Wukong and is getting super silly with the "we had good graffix first" approach.

Can we stick to the topic of the thread and not resort to console vs PC warring?. No need for "back then we had" either, this isn't the thread for that.

Currently the game is running like arse on the consoles, PC has to have beefed hw to run as is, that's what is going on, that is reality.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Yea after seeing it on console it killed the hype for me, it's a shame cause ragnorak looks stunning on ps5 of course wukong tries to push graphics too much and the result is something that looks like crap on console, it like when the switch tries run  a demanding ps4 game.

I think the reality is consoles are failing behind. I could see Space Marines 2 running like crap on consoles as well. I don't think the ps5 has the memory bandwidth nor the ram to run UE5 effectively.

Ragnarök looks good on consoles because it uses old/antiquated special effects for lighting and volumetric.

A Pro is desperately needed to keep up with high end games.  I mean FF16 on the ps5 performance mode drops to 720p at times...  720p.  Probably off the topic too much, but this is one of the reasons I laughed when people argued the switch 2 was going to run modern games.  Christ, the ps5 is struggling, the switch 2 has no chance.

I guess the good news is the ps6 will run Black Myth well?

The game is not optimized well. I'm watching footage of both games from youtube on my 4k tv and ragnarok holds up well on ps5 against a 4090 black myth and i go back and fourth on which looks better. U5 does help game development and can make developers that are not that skilled make amazing looking games but at the cost of needing really powerful hardware. as U5 gets better maybe we will actually be able to look great on ps5 pro.
