Many  people still think  say rdr 2 is the best looking game ever then last of us 2, and cyber punk so please stop trying to push this narrative that stylistic game wins for better graphics. Resident evil 5, Uncharted 3,  and gears 3 still look really nice today with 4k.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is...
1) A last generation game.
2) A DirectX 11 feature set title.
3) No Ray Tracing.
4) 6 years old.

It's been eclipsed by titles like:
1) Hogwarts Legacy.
2) Cyberpunk 2077.
3) Alan Wake 2.
4) Jedi Survivor.
5) Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (THIS specifically is spectacular visually.)
6) Assassins Creed: Valhalla.
7) Death Stranding.
8) Returnal.
9) Spider-Man.
10) Ghost of Tsushima.
11) Ratchet and Clank.
12) Halo: Infinite.
13) Horizon: Forbidden West.
14) Dead Space.
15) God of War Ragnarok.

Cyberpunk is pushing better graphics than RDR2. That's just a fact, for all the issues that game had, graphics was not one of them... Or more specifically... Was so far ahead that hardware struggled to keep up. (Playstation 4/Pro and Xbox One/One X.)

I think I prove my point... And that's before I mentioned games like Kena, StarCitizen, Final Fantasy 7, The Last of Us and more... Or even more marginal titles like Battlefield which were early titles with Ray Tracing.

If you disagree and think a 6 year old game is better than all these... Then you are simply just... Well. Wrong... And the fact you are bringing the same old boring, never-ending argument into the 3rd or 4th thread and repeating the same things? Shows you haven't learned, grown or progressed in your reasoning.

This is my personal cap, if games get more real looking than this, I'm going to have a problem with it. Infact, this might be a bit too real as is and is in need of more "art" for lack of a better term. But I can see myself accepting this, anymore photo real and I'll find it depressing and bland.

I think this is achievable in the next few years.

I would argue it's achievable now... Hellblade has some seriously impressive modelling going on... And that wasn't designed with the PC as the lead platform either... Imagine a Geforce RTX 4090 with 24GB VRAM doing 30fps at 1440P and the crazy level of realism that would bring.

Basically then every game is stylized. Like last of us is realistic graphics but going for apocalyptic world that you would never see in the real world. Same for gears, heck same rdr 2 since you would never see the wild west these days anywhere. Point is these games are all aiming for realistic graphics.

No one actually cares if it's stylized or not. Stylized graphics can still be demanding and impressive graphics.

Borderlands is one such example of a AAA high-stylized title that pushed visuals.

For me...
Superman: Atari 2600. - First video game I ever played. Had it as a kid.

Justice League PS4/5:

When I say best looking game I'm talking about on consoles. A combination of art and tech. Go look up any poll if what's the best looking game and it's always rdr2, cyber punk and last of us 2. I played dead remake for example that art style and space are so boring to me and why it never mentioned. If you think it's only my opinion.

No way is Ghosts of Tsushima, Spider-Man more technically impressive then rdr2 or even gow ragnarok for that matter.

I also don't agree on the way you judge games graphically, but we're past that and it seems everyone agrees with me on other forums.

As for stylized it depends on the style most cell shaded games are not nearly much as much detail as realistic games or even trying to match them they can achieve high level visuals with little power. Just compare dbz fighters stunning best looking cell shaded game now compare that to mortal kobal 1 which can't even run on Switch properly.

Have you seen any pictures from Gaza lately :( Or Tsjernobyl for that matter, overgrown ruins, very similar to The Last of Us.

Sadly there's no lack of real world apocalyptic scenes and abandoned ghost towns.

Btw Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is stylized and pushing detail like no other. It will age better than 'realistic' games as well.

Ragnarok recommended GPU is a 3070, ultra settings is a 4070ti.

RDR2 recommends a lowly 1060....

Ragnarok crushes RDR2 graphically.

Edit

Demon Remake and Ratchet both are graphically more impressive than RDR2.

Ragnarok runs on ps4 with no problems so I fail to see how it crushes rdr 2 graphically cause of gpu recommendations. Also last of us 2 vs rdr 2 thread of biggest technical achievment

Now pemalite is gonna come and say they all wrong cause last of us 2 uses newer graphical features.

I'm good with graphics getting better and better, but I'm also good with the graphics on the Switch. Give me the Switch 2 with 60fps and I'll be happy.

"Graphics" will eventually just be basically a form of photogrammy and dump polys/textures altogether and anything will be able to display basically photoreal visuals because it'll essentially just be a mismash of "real" and extrapolated photos. Even a smartphone will have that.

It doesn't really take any big imagination to look at some of the higher end games of today and imagine them as photoreal anyway, it's not like some incomprehensible leap from where we are today, it's more like a kind of boring inevitability.
Graphics are less and less of a factor on their own, most people just expect eye pleasing enough graphics as is, it's like CGI in movies, no one really cares if a movie has the best CGI ever anymore. It's expected, the only time people maybe talk about CGI quality any more is if it's really, really bad and even then most people don't care.

And the Switch runs Witcher 3, but I assure you it doesn't look like it does in my rig.

Play Ragnarok on the ps5 and soon the PC...  dude it crushes RDR2.  So does RE4 (ultra settings) and Dead Space Remake.  Hell so does Rebirth and FF16.

RDR2 was a marvelous for a ps4 games....  which is now old and outdated.

It's pretty close if the ps4 version was 60fps and 1440p i would say its almost the samething. sure you would me missing some new graphical features but it still be preet close. i'm gonna watch xbox x footage of rdr2  and see how out dated it looks on my tv.

Ok just watched this video xbone x 4k version on my 42 inchg screen.

Still looks stunning and best looking game ever for me on consoles still, and i finshed both the resident evil 4 remake, ragnorak and dead space remake on ps5. I will say ragnorak is very beautiful though but the sheer scope of the world, thats easily the most dynamic open world by miles takes it for me.There are so many small details that are still being highlighted, like npcs building railroads with each nail actually being animated hammered in. the stunning weather effects, day and night cycles the sheer scope of the  variety in the envoriments, and city's and all look stunning, its the closest game that comes to simulating real life. How about the attention to detail to wild life where they all hunt, and have a routine, and react like real animals.

Every fucking thread is NOOO! MY RDR IS BEST LOOKING SEE! Jesus fucking christ. The game is old. Games get better looking. Accept it. Or I will have to convince myself Shenmue is still the best looking game ever as if it's still 1999.
