Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you feel embarrased playing "childish feeling" games?

I would feel embarrased, if someone seen me play a kid focused game...

Yes I do.

My GF is the only person who knows that I own a Nintendo Switch and even her knowing is making me feel small inside. I feel like my masculinity is damaged in her eyes and that makes me resort to actions beyond my morals and beliefs just to regain my manhood and enjoy my Nintendo Switch in peace without fearing that my masculinity is being judged by her.

Honestly…I’m kinda the opposite. I’d much rather be seen playing Mario or Smash Bros than Doom or GTA. Everybody knows Mario! Nothing controversial about him. Meanwhile, not everybody knows about Doom guy, and some may be turned off by the abundant violence in the game. It’s almost comedic to envision being in public, and then out of the corner of your eye, you see somebody blasting these demonic monsters with gun shots to the face. Much less comedic is seeing some guy playing the cartoon game.

As stated, not embarassed just bored/uninterested. I like Animal Crossing and think it looks pretty cute for the type of game it is

But when I see this new chibi new Zelda game I only yawn and think how could someone thought it looks any good

I think it's a case by case thing

No I don't.

Is this bait? It's got to be bait.

Bait for what? I'm genuinely interested to see how others feel on the matter, I'm not calling out anyone elses habits, just mine. For example, I'm thinking about playing a game called NI no Kuni 2. The game looks great on a systems level but my god is it childish on the surface. For example, the Kingdom is called Ding Dong Dell. Seeing how other people here that DGAF is making me give less of a hoot.

Yeah case by case. Animal crossing is more of a style choice.

Nah... kids have the best stuff...

Otherwise, you need to only read Shakespeare, listen to Beethoven, and study for your next PhD.

Ok. Confident people don’t worry about what others feel about what games they enjoy. I’ve watched my entire life as “hardcore” gamers have mocked the gaming habits of people who play Nintendo games and it’s always just been hilarious to me. I just didn’t realize there were people that actually felt embarrassed about playing certain games and took their attacks to heart. Welcome to a world of nit caring what other people think about your tastes in anything. It is quite liberating  and you can now start living your best life for you.

May I ask how does one become confident in his enjoyment of Nintendo games? I've always struggled and found it extremely hard to acknowledge such personal enjoyment. I always quickly hide my Nintendo games and put on Eldin Ring, God of War or sometimes even Call of Duty when I have people over which is tiring and not healthy for me tbh.
