Forums - Sales - Will Xbox Series X/S make it to 36 million?

Will the Xbox Series make it to 36 million?

Yes it will 7 33.33%

No, it will fall short 14 66.67%

Total:21

With the price increase the odds just shot WAY down. We will have a better idea how bad sales are once May NPD drops in June.

Now it's price has been increased in all regions. $600! As if it's chances weren't low enough already.

It might be time to redo the poll following the price hike. The US got by far the biggest price increase.

Ouch, a series X goes for around 700$ here now, the S is a more reasonable 400$ though (still too high).

One day after posting record profits....

https://www.eurogamer.net/xbox-hardware-revenue-continues-to-tumble-but-gaming-revenue-is-up-microsoft-reports

As a whole, Microsoft made $70.1bn in revenue during Q3 and saw a net income of $25.8bn, marking a 13 and 18 percent year-over-year increase respectively. That growth was predominantly driven by its Cloud and Office services, but its gaming division saw success too.

Overall, Xbox gaming revenue was up five percent year-over-year, and within that, Xbox content and services - which includes Microsoft's first-party game releases and Game Pass - saw an eight percent increase. Indeed, Microsoft said it was the top publisher on both Xbox and PlayStation for the quarter.

These successes were offset, however, by a continuing decline in Xbox hardware numbers over Q3, with console sales falling by six percent year-on-year

Guess they gave up on HW and are now killing it off...

Raising game prices as well, just not GP (yet) GPU is $19.99 a month now, $240 a year since September last year. Probably gonna increase again before COD comes out.

I agree that another price increase for Game Pass is likely coming this fall/holiday. At $80 per game, it only takes 3 games at that price to break even with Game Pass and far less if you use PC Game Pass. PC Game Pass is by far the best deal for Game Pass at $12 per month. If you want games at launch on console you need Game Pass Ultimate at $20.

I see Game Pass Core and Standard price remaining the same, while PC Game Pass goes up to $15 (to match Standard price) and Ultimate up to $22 or even $25.

The price increase for games is just ridiculous

As for hardware I guess they decided they no longer want to sell it at loss

PC gaming is looking more and more appealing as the time goes. Free online, no generations bullshit and you are free to upgrade whenever you want, without console makers looking you out of their games

I picked the right time to switch to PC gaming. All Xbox games day one and PS games a year or 2 later. Though, I did spend as much on my GPU as the PS5 Pro and Series X 2TB costs. But it does mean my PC is far more powerful than any console and I don't need to upgrade for many, many years. Plus, Steam sales tend to be better than what we get on consoles.

I'll built my PC for around 9500 BRL, which is 4000 BRL more than what I bought my PS5 Horizon Bundle 2 years ago (but now we can buy it for around 4100 BRL). My PC is a bit more powerful than the base PS5

So PC gaming still twice as expensive as consoles

However when it comes to software at least where I live the prices are much better since steam adjusts prices based on country currency

Base PS Plus is already 360 BRL a year, in 5 years this alone will cost me ~1800 BRL, which by itself offsets 50% of the price I paid on my PC over my PS5

And goes without saying PCs have actual use for other things other than just gaming

Consoles are only better with play few games a year, uses physical media and don't care for online play. Otherwise PC all the way

In total I spent around $2,000 over the course of 2 years to upgrade. I upgraded the MOBO, CPU, RAM, and SSD first for about $1,000, then got the GPU for ~$700 about a year later. I kept my old case, monitors, keyboard, and mouse.
