Will Switch Oled (Oled model only) catch PS4 in Japan?

Pretty good holds for Peach and Ronin. People thought Dogma would be the one to outrank those releases that week but it’s actually the opposite.
What the what... i saw the increase in software for Switch and was like... don't tell me the hardware numbers rose AGAIN, and they did... 70k+ at this point with no release... what is going on ? Was there a random sale ? Even at that point that would maybe be the result we would see when a console gets a price cut.
I'm really intrigued to see what their predictions for this FY will be. Knowing how it is not as down as we thought and knowing they delayed the successor, they might release some games they shelved to support it and maybe play some more cards than anticipated this year. The Switch could be positioned to go higher in the 150s than i thought.
Interesting.
Japan is loyal to the Switch. I’m not sure if any console will be able to surpass its LTD, not with this kind of momentum after eight years.

I expect the Switch to easily sell 1.45M by Jun 30, 2024. A mid-total of 936.94k sold for PS5 by Jun 30, 2024, and 48.1k for Xbox Series by Jun 30, 2024.
So the Switch should be 282k units ahead of 2018 in for week 26, ending on Jun 30. And 34k units behind 2019 on Jun 30.
12 weeks to go! Just needs 656k more in 12 weeks, averaging 54,666 units per week.
*edit: I had Xbox Series selling 8.1k when I meant 48.1k. Misclick haha

I wouldn't be surprised if It caught up this year. YTD, OLED is ~74% of sales, so assuming another 1.25 million total switches sold this year, we'd get a little more than the ps4's current number.

Agreed PS4 totaled at 7,925,446, and OLED is at 7,014,166. OLED needs to sell 911,281 to surpass it. Since the OLED in Japan is the biggest portion of Switch units sold (Like what badskywalker analyzed ~74%), the Switch (Lite, OLED and V2) needs to sell 1.24M.
The Switch OLED averages 42,001 unit sales every week in Japan for 2024. If this average continues, it will surpass the PS4 in 22 weeks, Sept 22nd.
Personally, I think the Switch can average from here on out 55-60k per week. Meaning the Switch OLED will surpass the PS4 in 17 weeks, Aug 4th.

I believe the switch can do it.
For your PS5 number it would need to average 34,771 a week.
For your Xbox Series number it would need to have 1918 Xboxes returned back to the store per week(and no further sales) to lower it down to 8100?
