Switch needs to die. foolish not to wait for switch 2 with the tech being so out dated and over priced.

Why is it foolish?

Switch 2 is coming this year and the tech is incredibly over priced. If you don't have one by now just wait till switch 2. It's like buying a ps4 pro for 400$ in 2022 just a waste of money.

Are you saying the tech of the successor will be over priced?
The reality is that Switch will not lower prices due to:

  • Consistent purchasing of hardware
  • Cost of manufacturing
  • Increased profit

It's a smart economic move to not give their #2 best selling console a price cut.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 160 million (was 120 million, then 140 million, then 150 million)

PS5: 130 million (was 124 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 54 million (was 60 million, then 57 million)

No i'm saying switch is over priced. it's 7 year old hardware that's still full price which is ridiculous. if you waited this long and don't have a switch might as well  wait for switch 2 and actually get insanely better value for your money unless it's not backward compatible lol.

Nothing too surprising about these numbers. Switch definitely is feeling it’s age at the moment: 30% drop hints at a 50% drop overall YoY (2023 had very strong months from March through June [would expect 50% drop during these months] plus the successor will certainly knock sales following reveal down substantially [likely 60% drop YoY]). Overall, 8mil in 2024 would be a safe estimate…though I’m getting ahead of myself lol. It is literally only February.

Not bad switch!
28k on average in every month equals 336k total sales, more than the best selling uk wii u year.
(probably it will be double).
Depends on if switch 2 realeases this year on the next one, I'm still expecting it come out in early 2025...
One last holiday.
Switch had sold 67m as of 2020, so 67m installbase had a switch for at least five years... Enough.

What's even more impressive is that the Nintendo Switch has 122M annual active users as of Dec 31, 2023 from the 9-month consolidated results.

That's an 88% activity rate! 15.15M Switch users are not actively using their Switch. That is very impressive.
How many other consoles can say that after 7 (almost 8) years that they have 122M annual active users.

Can you share the data?

122m  active base vs 139m installbase!

Wow, that's outstanding and encouraging for the transition to the successor.

The rate must be even higher, given some switch users must be double dippers (jumped from og switch to the oled one).

Back in Sept 30,2023 they announced they have 330 million Nintendo Switch accounts. Here's that source:

330M Nintendo Accounts in 160 countries

Here is the source for the 122M active annual users:

122M active annual users

They discuss the active annual users in the middle of the article.

Yeah, it's one of the biggest active users Nintendo has ever had. It's cool to see how popular and relevant the Switch can still be for 10 year old technology.
