Israeli forces storm village of al-Arqa in the occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have stormed the village of al-Arqa in the Jenin governorate in the occupied West Bank. Local sources told Wafa news agency that the occupation forces stormed al-Arqa and raided and searched a house.

The sources added that Israeli forces set fire to lands in the Marj Ibn Amer plain, and columns of smoke were seen rising from the area.

Israeli forces launch more raids in West Bank’s Nablus, Hebron

Israeli forces have stormed the town of Aqraba, located south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. Local sources told the Wafa news agency that Israeli soldiers fired tear gas and clashed with local Palestinians, but no injuries have been reported so far.

Another raid took place in the town of Sa’ir, located north of Hebron. Hours earlier, a young man and an elderly Palestinians were injured in the Khirbet al-Qat in northern Hebron when settlers attacked them with stones and batons while they were picking grapes.

Israeli settlers attack residential homes in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron

Israeli settlers, under the protection of the army, attacked Palestinian homes in Susya in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank.

Resident Imran Ismail al-Nawaja’a told the Wafa news agency that an unspecified number of settlers from the illegal Susya settlement attacked his home and the home of Nasser Khalil al-Nawaja’a with stones.

The settlers also tried to break into several homes and assault their owners, saying the residents had confronted them.

Al-Nawaja’a added that Israeli forces stormed the village and tried to arrest several residents.

Gantz fires back after Israel’s far right rejects his bid to rejoin government

The Blue and White–National Unity alliance leader, Benny Gantz, has written a post on X, addressed to Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, after the far right strongly opposed his offer to rejoin Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition to reach a deal to bring back captives from Gaza.

“It’s time to admit the truth – you have failed in the mission to destroy Hamas,” Gantz wrote. “Your conception has failed again, and extremism has met reality.”

He said it is time for the government to “sober up and act to return the hostages”, while recruiting everyone into the military, including ultra-Orthodox Jews, backed by the far-right, who have been exempt from service.

This comes shortly after the Prime Minister’s Office assured Netanyahu’s coalition partners that he has no intention of breaking up their alliance to partner with Gantz.

Gadi Eisenkot, who was a former political partner of Gantz in the Netanyahu alliance before both left and fell out with each other, also rejected the notion of a national unity government, saying that Netanyahu must “make a tough but necessary decision” to reach an agreement on Gaza.

Israel flew in Instagram influencers to deny Gaza’s famine — but the stunt has backfired spectacularly!

For decades Israel’s Hasbara — the state-backed propaganda and public diplomacy strategy — operated as one of the most successful narrative control systems in modern geopolitics. In the dominant Western press, Israel was consistently framed as a beleaguered democracy defending itself, while Palestinians were portrayed as terrorists or aggressors.

This imbalance was not accidental. It was the result of carefully coordinated government messaging, lobbying networks, and media gatekeeping that limited the voices Palestinians could bring to global audiences. Hasbara thrived on a monopoly over framing: access to journalists was restricted, dissenting views were penalised, and accusations of antisemitism were deployed to silence critics of Israeli policy.

That monopoly is now of course in utter tatters. Since October 2023, when Israel launched its genocide on Gaza, the entire apparatus of Hasbara has faltered. What has changed is not Israel’s propaganda capacity but the communicative environment in which it operates.

Four killed after Israeli forces opened fire on crowd seeking aid

Israeli attacks on Palestinians waiting for aid in Gaza continue. Witnesses said at least four people were killed when Israeli forces fired at a crowd seeking aid near a GHF site near the Netzarim Corridor yesterday.

“The gunfire was indiscriminate,” Mohamed Abed, a father of two from the Bureij refugee camp, was quoted as saying by the AP. He and another witness said the shooting began when a group at the front tried to push towards the site before its scheduled opening.

In a statement to AP, the GHF said, “This incident didn’t occur near our site nor as described.”

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 2,000 Palestinians have been killed and some 13,500 wounded while seeking aid at distribution points or along convoy routes used by the UN and other aid groups.

‘It is entirely man-made’: Gaza doctor describes collapse of healthcare amid famine

Melina, a Bulgarian anaesthesiologist at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, has described the impact of famine and bombardment on patients and staff inside the hospital.

“What I see every day are people who are extremely thin … they are clearly displaying signs of severe malnutrition,” she said in a video shared by the hospital. “This affects their ability to heal and to fight infections … and makes any recovery from any illness really, really complicated.”

Describing a “total collapse” of healthcare, food and education, Melina added: “I have never witnessed or imagined a situation like that is possible … The fact that to this disaster, I’m a witness, it is entirely man-made. It could have been prevented.”

She recalled anaesthetising a 33-year-old patient about to lose his right hand, saying there were “many like him” who had lost “their homes and their children, their livelihoods, their salaries”.

“Nobody knows really what will happen,” she said. “The uncertainty and the long duration of this disaster is really shocking.”

Gaza’s health crisis: Doctors powerless against famine killing malnourished children

Doctors say there’s little they can do to stop children dying of starvation from the Israeli-engineered famine in Gaza. It’s getting worse as attacks step up, with Israel intent on seizing Gaza City and forcing out nearly one million Palestinians.

Seven-year-old May Abu Arar is one of the children with severe malnutrition. For four months, her mother has watched helplessly as she wastes away in front of her.

“May is so weak she has to be fed through a syringe. Every sip is painful. Her mother says these liquid meals aren’t working,” said Al Jazeera’s Ibrahim al-Khalili, reporting from Gaza City. Her mother, Nadia Abu Arar, says May “used to weigh 19kg, and then it started decreasing”.

“There’s such a shortage of protein that every day, my daughter has been getting worse and worse. The doctor told me that she isn’t suffering from any disease or from any past conditions. They are saying it’s all due to malnutrition … and I haven’t seen improvement in her situation at all.”

Malnutrition-related deaths cross 300

Gaza’s Health Ministry says 11 more people, including two children, have died from malnutrition in the past 24 hours.

That brings the total number of hunger- and malnutrition-related deaths in Gaza, where famine has now been confirmed in some areas, to 300, including 117 children.

Not any more or less than the many thousands of other innocent civilians killed in Israel, Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran.

I don't have any special allegiance to any flag, I'm a part of the human race first. I was born in The Netherlands, my family comes from Indonesia, Belgium, Germany, USA, Canada with family history further back to India.

Israeli suicide drone kills, wounds journalists

The drone attack targeted the upper parts of Nasser Hospital, including the roof where a couple of journalists were standing.

Cameraperson Hossam al-Masri was killed in the attack. As medical staff went up to provide assistance, another attack took place, wounding several other people, including two journalists.

Three journalists killed in Gaza

We are now getting reports that three journalists are among 14 people killed in the Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza.

Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza

We are in a two-year war where we have been deprived of electricity and internet, so Palestinian journalists are using these services at hospitals to continue reporting. We are also following news of wounded Palestinians, funerals, and malnutrition cases, as these are always transferred to hospitals.

That is why Palestinian journalists are making hospitals their base and end up being attacked.

The long list of media casualties in Israel’s war on Gaza

As we’ve been reporting, several journalists are among the victims of an Israeli attack on the roof of Nasser Hospital. Their casualties add to the growing number of media workers targeted and killed during the war – at least 240, according to the Gaza Government Media Office.

The list includes many Al Jazeera journalists, with correspondent Anas al-Sharif the latest victim, who were killed in an Israeli attack on al-Shifa Hospital two weeks ago.

Rights groups have roundly condemned Israel’s targeting of journalists in Gaza, where reporters face more danger than anywhere else in the world. “No conflict in modern history has seen a higher number of journalists killed than Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip,” says Amnesty International.

Death toll from Nasser Hospital attack rises to 14, including four journalists

Our colleagues are reporting that 14 people have now been confirmed killed in the Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital. They include four journalists.

Numerous casualties were reported, including journalists and healthcare workers

Gaza officials confirm 4 journalists among 14 killed in Israeli attack

Gaza’s Government Media Office has now confirmed that four journalists were among the victims of the Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital a short while ago.

“The number of journalist martyrs rises to 244 after the announcement of the martyrdom of four journalists in the targeting of Nasser Hospital,” it said in a statement.

It named the slain journalists as

  • Hussam al-Masri – Reuters photojournalist
  • Mohammad Salama – Al Jazeera photojournalist
  • Mariam Abu Daqqa – Journalist with several media outlets, including The Independent Arabic and the AP
  • Moaz Abu Taha – Journalist

“The journalist colleagues were martyred when the Israeli occupation committed a horrific crime by bombing a group of journalists who were on a press coverage mission at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis Governorate, and many martyrs fell victim to this crime.

“We hold the Israeli occupation, the US administration, and the countries participating in the genocide crime, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for committing these heinous brutal crimes.”

Israeli forces struck same Gaza hospital site twice

How many times are we going to continue reporting on the killing of our colleagues or the killing of other journalists working with Al Jazeera and other news outlets? The Israeli forces launched an explosive suicide drone, which hit the rooftop of Nasser Hospital, where at least one journalist was killed.

Then, civil defence teams went up, tried to retrieve the body, and tried to rescue whoever was wounded. Journalists also went to document what happened.

And then Israeli forces targeted the same place again. Another air strike at the same location, and this is actually documented on air. The journalists who were covering this were killed and wounded. The civil defence teams that were trying to retrieve the bodies of the victims were also killed.

We’re running out of words

This is not the first time that Israeli forces attacked Nasser Hospital and this is not the first time a journalist was killed. It is, indeed, a very hard day for journalists again.

Palestinian journalists have been mourning their colleagues every single week. We just lost four Al Jazeera colleagues in the past couple of weeks, and Palestinians are still mourning and grieving journalists again today.

Many of my colleagues are now reporting on the incident and reporting on this attack just like I am. And for the first time, we’re running out of words; our colleagues have been killed live on air.

This has been documented, and there are many other journalists who are still trying to recognise other journalists, right now, who have been wounded in this attack.

Israel feels it can ‘do whatever it wants’

Mohamad Elmasry, media studies professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, says Israel has learned it can “pretty much do whatever it wants” with no repercussions during the course of the Gaza war.

“If there’s anything that Israel has learned over the last 23 months, it’s that it can pretty much do whatever it wants and get away with it,” he told Al Jazeera, referencing attacks that killed paramedics, aid workers and journalists.

“All they’ve [Israel’s army] have had to do is come out with a statement either denying it, deflecting it or blaming Hamas,” Elmasry said. “We’ll see what they say about this [latest attack on Nasser Hospital].

“Within the next couple of hours, they’ll make some comment. My best guess is that they’ll probably say they were targeting a ‘terrorist’ and then just move on.”

Doctor at Nasser Medical Complex says ‘patients are now running away from the hospital in fear’

Dr Saber al-Asmar of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis has described the horror of Israeli air strikes that hit the medical complex.

“We were like everyone inside the hospital just doing our job with the very huge shortage of equipment, tools and medications. And, while everyone was doing their job, this huge strike came.”

He added that the attack struck while students, doctors and journalists were inside.

“The operation room, especially in the morning, it’s full of medical students, patients, doctors and nurses… They were taking classes, while the journalists were preparing themselves to report on what’s happening in Gaza’s hospitals.”

The doctor said the strikes left patients traumatised.

“I can see the fear and the horror in the faces of these patients who are supposed to be in a place where it is internationally protected.”

He warned that many are now too afraid to remain in the facility.

“Patients are just running away from the hospitals, because they are now scared of staying in the hospital.”

Reuters confirms one of the killed journalists was contracted by news agency

Reuters, in a post on X, has confirmed that one of the four journalists killed in the attack was contracted by the news agency.

‘Israel wants to destroy all aspects of life in Gaza’

Gaza’s Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal is demanding an “end to the targeting of medical facilities and the entry of supplies”.

“The [Israeli] occupation wants to destroy all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip for the citizens. The occupation is committing direct crimes in front of the world, in addition to the crime of starvation,” said Basal.

Death toll in Nasser Hospital attack rises to 20

The death toll in an Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital has risen to 20, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced.

“The [Israeli] occupation forces’ targeting of the hospital today and the killing of medical personnel, journalists, and civil defense personnel is a continuation of the systematic destruction of the health system and the continuation of genocide. It is a message of defiance to the entire world and to all values of humanity and justice,” it said in a statement.
