Gaza officials confirm 4 journalists among 14 killed in Israeli attack

Gaza’s Government Media Office has now confirmed that four journalists were among the victims of the Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital a short while ago.

“The number of journalist martyrs rises to 244 after the announcement of the martyrdom of four journalists in the targeting of Nasser Hospital,” it said in a statement.

It named the slain journalists as

  • Hussam al-Masri – Reuters photojournalist
  • Mohammad Salama – Al Jazeera photojournalist
  • Mariam Abu Daqqa – Journalist with several media outlets, including The Independent Arabic and the AP
  • Moaz Abu Taha – Journalist

“The journalist colleagues were martyred when the Israeli occupation committed a horrific crime by bombing a group of journalists who were on a press coverage mission at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis Governorate, and many martyrs fell victim to this crime.

“We hold the Israeli occupation, the US administration, and the countries participating in the genocide crime, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for committing these heinous brutal crimes.”

Israeli forces struck same Gaza hospital site twice

How many times are we going to continue reporting on the killing of our colleagues or the killing of other journalists working with Al Jazeera and other news outlets? The Israeli forces launched an explosive suicide drone, which hit the rooftop of Nasser Hospital, where at least one journalist was killed.

Then, civil defence teams went up, tried to retrieve the body, and tried to rescue whoever was wounded. Journalists also went to document what happened.

And then Israeli forces targeted the same place again. Another air strike at the same location, and this is actually documented on air. The journalists who were covering this were killed and wounded. The civil defence teams that were trying to retrieve the bodies of the victims were also killed.
