Gamecube got boat raced because it didn't have games to compete with GTA, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid and Halo. They didn't have the guns to compete in the hardcore space. Nintendo wins when they focus on gaming experiences excessible to new gamers and those who have gaming as part of their lifestyle instead of their lifetyle being a part of their gaming.

Nintendo is able to compete with mobile games in providing fun and rewarding gaming experiences even without bleeding edge tech the masses don't care about which is how the lowly Switch is able to lap the PS5, Xbox S/X, and the Steamdeck in sales.
