I still think people are expecting too much.  I've played with my 3050 mobile using DLSS, it helps but isn't magic.  My 3050 is a large drop compared to the ps5 (roughly 2070s).  If I'm honest halo infinite borderline looks like trash on the 3050 mobile.  Low res, low textures, low fps and major pop in.  It simply doesn't have the memory bandwidth.  Granted the S2 should have 2x the vram which will help.  But again the S2 will be maxed at 102 memory bandwidth while the 3050 mobile is 192.... so 2x the vram is likely a wash.

For the life of me I can't figure out why people think the 2050 and 3050 run modern games well.  And both support the magic of DLSS.

It would be interesting to see if you could get the FSR3 frame gen patch working on your 3050 in conjuntion with DLSS and see if you could tweak settings to make it a meaningfully better experience.

Just watching the latest DF & there seems to be a consensus that frame gen can be worth it from a baseline of 40fps, though they add the caveat that it can depend on the game. They also state that lag is quite a bit less noticeable with a controller vs mouse/keyboard.

If devs could take this approach on S2 then it could be a valuable tool for a lot of games...

Yeah, it is a good question.  I've played with DLSS but have zero experience with frame generation.  I would assume those are fake frames so while it looks smooth it loses the benefit of responsiveness and accuracy.  To be clear, nobody other than professional gamers are going to care at all.  Though I swear with RE4 at 120 fps my accuracy is a good 10 to 15% higher.

No one tries to claim an XBox Series S is a completely different class of hardware from the Series X.

It seems to me on that it's perfectly understood, "oh yeah it runs the same games just at a lower resolution and frame rate" and there's no one arguing it's a PS4 generation system.

Find me posts where the usual critics here were complaining up a storm when the Series S is was announced and saying no one should consider it a PS5/XSX tier system ... I bet they didn't have shit to say at that time. In these threads what happens is when Series S is brought then *magically* (of course) now the issue of modern architecture becomes a point, of course though this cannot apply to the Switch 2. You see only the Series S has magical next gen architecture and only it benefits, so you're not allowed to say a Series S is "just a PS4 Pro", for example, that's against the "rules" they've invented.

If Switch 2 games are all just Switch 1 games running at different settings (a cross gen period of years and years), people would complain about that too, that's not the same thing at all, that's just people wanting software to take advantage of new hardware, nothing more, nothing less.

I would and do.  The series s is barely a next gen system.  It may have been patched but infinite via DF run better on the Xbox One Series X than the Series S....

Show me where you complain and gaslight XBox Series X/S threads like 50 times in every thread relevant to its technical performance. Go ahead. I'll wait. I'm pretty sure the XBox Series S/X reveal threads are still up on this forum.

You take everything so personally.  In the ps5 thread you posted 7 times on a single page.  You didn't see me whining and crying.

I don't post much in MS threads because their software is awful and my interest in xbox is none.  On the flip side S2 is day 1.  Hell I own 3 switch units at the moment.  One for me and two for each of the kids.

I'm a Nintendo fan and will continue posting as I see fit.  Get over yourself.

Edit

You don't have to read anything I post, muchless respond.  You are keeping this crap going as much as I am.

I'm not in every PS5 thread, nor do I go in there and start stating things like "PS5 achsually sucks because my 4080 can run these games at 90 fps, 60 fps is unplayable, enjoy PS5 exclusives I guess but why are you even bothering with 3rd party games".

Like nobody cares what your personal frame rate preference for settings (particularly freaking PCs) are in relation to consoles. It's not relevant, it's like a Star Wars fan showing up in a Star Trek thread and finding it necessary to state that they can't watch a sci-fi movie without lightsabers in it 50 times.

Like ... why in the world is every Switch 2 technical discussion on this board some how turn into a soap box for your personal preference for frame rate, nobody else gives a fuck that you don't like 30 fps.

If you don't care, why do you respond every time?  Lol, you are funny.

I don't give a shit about your preferences, I'd care more about a zit on my ass than what frame rate you like or what food you like or what your favorite color is or what you thought about Godfather III or whatever.

I call out gaslighting posts because no one behaves this way in XBox or Playstation threads (and bullshit you did the same in Series S threads, you were asked to produce receipts and you have nothing).

Godfather 3 was terrible, 1 star.

Not as bad as your gaslighting of Switch 2 technical threads. At least Godfather III had some fun moments.
