40
- If you go against one of the main conventions of the game in the first level, you’ll be rewarded.
- Your foe is now your friend… or is he?

39
- A launch title for the first system it released on, it was sometimes criticised for having dark visuals that made it difficult to play on original hardware (subsequent hardware revisions remedied this issue). This is supposedly the reason the next game had brighter graphics.
- There are four unlockable modes, each of which give your character a boost to one specific attribute at the expense of others - magic, strength, sub-weapons, or luck.

38
- Introduces a few new enemies to the series, but only one new weapon. And even then, it’s more an upgrade to an existing weapon, doubling its power and ammo consumption.

I guess 37 is Aoe2 HD or DE version.

#37 is indeed the game that has something to do with Age of Empires II, but it is not the game itself. So, incorrect.

Here are some more clues to my games:

43.  a) This entry in the series can be seen as connected to the first entry in a variety of ways.
b) One way this game is connected to the first entry is that they have the same final boss.
c) One way this game is connected to the first entry is that they both have an overworld with much of it open for you to explore from the beginning.
d) One way this game is connected to the first entry is that it returns to a top down perspective.

41.  a) The premise to this game is the same as the Neverending Story, which is ironic, since this is a spinoff of a series that has the opposite meaning.
b)  This is a Gameboy Advance title.
c)  Sequel to a game on the PS1.

40. a) The source material for this game is classic Chinese literature, but it is not any of the games from the "3 Kingdoms" era.  First in the series.
b)  If the title of this game were translated to English, it would be "The Water Margin".

39. a) One of the voice actors in the English version of this game also sees dead people.  First in the series.
b)  " ______   _____  is light!"

38.  The premise of this game is that you must pay off a debt to an unsavory character.

38 is a good guess, but not the game on my list.
