Forums - Nintendo Discussion - VGC: Switch 2 Was Shown At Gamescom Running Matrix Awakens UE5 Demo

I am not talking about VGC.

Before this news came, I saw many people saying that ray tracing and dlss were not possible on the next generation switches.
I want to remind you that the pessimists were not always right.
Someone may say that this news is not official, but until it is confirmed it would not be fair to make pessimism official.

It's an opinion I call out because it's ONLY for Nintendo hardware do you have jerk offs who are coming into every thread and trying to downplay every potential aspect of hardware that might be a positive for Nintendo. You don't have PC fanatics coming into PS5 threads shit talking and trying to drown out enthusiasm for that hardware? You know why? Because they're not idiots.

(...)

Um... no.

I remember Hynad getting pissed off in PS5 threads as much as you are now, because Pemalite couldn't keep his mouth shut.

Also, there's a difference between enthusiasm and delusion, just like there's a difference between addressing what people say and making up straw man arguments in order to be able to move goalposts.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

I keep getting quoted by someone on the ignore list lol. VGC needs to fix it so there is no notification. So keeps turning blue. Anyway, somhow the autocorrect turned Established into awesome. wtf. Anyway corrected.

Way before the AAA 3rd party games were coming to Switch, people on the internet were so full of themselves affirming what could run or not on switch. I remember when Witcher 3 on switch rumors surfaced and people were joking about it having ps1 visuals fidelity.

Yeah, it's not the same level graphically as PS4, but still fine on its own with no significant drawbacks that would change the game experience (Yeah guys, resolution, fps, textures and some small visual effects don't change the game fundamentals. It's still The Witcher 3 from the beginning to the end just like any other version)

Only time will tell who is right, so I would drop the attitude if I were y'all

It seems that autocorrect besides not working properly also sends posts to the wrong thread, in this case it's mistaken Switch 2 running Matrix demo thread  for the website topics forum.

Yeah, I may not have seen that thread, but I can  imagine what it was like.

1. While it is true we have no idea how the Switch 2's Tegra will be like, a low TDP mobile 3050 level of performance (like the one in the video) is in line with the upper-end rumors, especially if they switched from Ampere to Lovelace as some of the more recent rumors allude to. Furthermore, it doesn't invalidate the point I was making that DLSS is a significant improvement even for the lowest-end Ampere chips. The 25W mobile 2050 (which is technically GA107, despite the 20 title) also benefits significantly from DLSS despite being a significant cut down relative to the 3050 mobile. It's often the difference between a game being unplayable or being lockable to 30fps (or 60fps.)

Just trying to keep peoples expectations in check.

The 3050 mobile chip is still 2048 functional units which can boost to 1.7Ghz and is backed by upwards of 192GB/s.

That is still going to out-perform a fully-equipped AGX Orin 64GB, let alone a cut down variant like the AGX Orin 32GB or even the Orin NX 16GB.

Part of the reason is TDP, the 3050 can clock higher and more consistently as it's not sharing TDP with a CPU core cluster and has a higher default TDP to start with.

Provided Nintendo opts for Orin in the first place.

Then again, replying to everything you wrote doesn't seem to make sense either.

Anyway, I will inspect all my mistakes.
Let's do so for those parts of your argument that we can agree on in some form of summary.

And to be honest I distrust you, but I can also explain that it is not unreasonable.

I reply to the parts I take issue with. So in order to keep my reply in an appropriate context (And shorten my post length) I will highlight parts in a quote.

I never asked for anyones trust or respect on this forum, it's irrelevant, I don't actually care. - Nor does it make something fact or fiction.

I just have to see Xenoblade with roughly PS4 power

That I would enjoy.

Yea that's true. I just hope they do backwards compatibility or let me port over my Mario Kart 8 purchases instead of rebuying the game. Granted it doesn't help that I bought Mario Kart 8 on the wiiU and again on the Switch and I'll likely buy it again on the Switch 2 if they don't do any backwards compatibility lol.

I think backwards compatibility is an expectation these days where your physical AND digital libraries carry forwards, Nintendo has also spent years refining the Switch online service, they would literally be doing themselves a disservice starting all that again from scratch.

I am going to assume this is levelled at myself, correct me if I am wrong, however.

I have been on this forum for a long-ass time, but I always engage in hardware threads regardless of platform, PS5 and Series X included.
PS3 and Xbox 360, Playstation 4 and Xbox one. All of them.
I took issue with the Playstation 5's launch where people were citing the SSD as the be-all, end-all solution to gamings issues.

And I take issue with a lot of the arbitrary claims people have made (Which I have elaborated prior in this thread).

I am hearing the term mixed precision. It is to utilize the computing power of the GPU at 16 bits as well as 32 bits, which is commonly used in games.

I only remember a little of what someone else is talking about, So I don't understand it like a developer would though.

This is a calculation method that isn't used much on pc's or consoles, but I've heard it used a lot on mobile.

It's also a GeForce strength, and will help the next gen Switch run better.

What you are describing is rapid packed math.

Where you can combine two 16bit floats into a 32bit float, doubling your throughput... Ideally.

However in reality, not all 16bit operations can be combined into a 32bit operation, so it's not an auto-magic doubling in performance, it also comes with the caveat of reduced precision impacting visual quality.

The Playstation 5 and Series X supports Rapid Packed Math also.

Switch is my favorite console and a ps4/one it is absolutely not. Jesus some people are just off their ****ing rocker.  The switch is a ps3 pro at best.

Erm no. Wii U was more powerful than a PS3 and a Switch is about double that of the Wii U. That's been established. The power and capabilities of handhelds aren't tied to comparisons of older consoles. The Switch is well ahead of PS3 but well behind PS4.

So a ps3 pro....  exactly like I said?

And yes, it is well behind the ps4.

Wait, VG has a way to ignore people?  Well that solves my problem.  Thanks my friend.

I was thinking...  if a PC gamer told me my ps5 couldn't produce the visual fidelity of his RTX 4090, not only would I not argue for pages but I would agree.

Meaning I don't know why some take discussions about hardware so personally.

PS3 pro implies still in the same ballpark. No. Also, it's not you that's on the list. Someone else.
