Nothing's cheaper than something free.
F1 vs FOTA, when too much power is in couple peoples hands.

People should not pay attension to that idiot Gballzack. He is a raving anti Sony freak who has no idea what he's talking about. And by the way the PS2 dominated even more on software last gen than it did on hardware. THe PS2 had a higher software sales to hardware sales ratio than either the X-Box or GameCube. In the US 17 of the top 20 selling games last gen were PS2. If PS2's are breaking down all over the place I guess people buying lots of new games with their replacement PS2s.
I dont think that Gballzack is totaly off. I am a PS2, GC, and Xbox owner and I have never had any problems with any of them and the first time I ever had a problem with a consle was with the 360 Im on my third and my friend is on his forth. but back in the day my friends brother had a PS2 that was a peace of crap along with my younger bro later on with his slim you think Sony would fix the problem not make it worse. When it comes down to it the PS2 had the majority of the good games I mean they had a lot of great games and they had the most 3rd party support from the get go also if you look way back the console with the most support won and the PS2 won big time. But as they say the bigger they are the harder they fall. GO NINTENDO!
| Gballzack said: Arcturus you're living under a rock then. The Ps2 is infamous for its failure in quality. - the original Red light of doom - The Mechanical eye that had to be recalibrated everytime a new disc format was inserted resulting in a hastened burn out of the drive system. - The vertical stand option which Sony had to later retract saying that the PS2 shouldn't be played vertically because it could cause it to not read the disc or damage it. One of the signiture features of the PS2, admited to by Sony themselves to be a failure. - Sony's attempt at the Blue Disc which ruined countless PS2s. - Plastic drive parts that over time wore down resulting in the drive not working. - The DVD and CD functions only have limited functionality on many consoles. - Overheating issues which got worse in the slims. - The slims not being compatible with the Hard Drive and other peripherals required for certain online games. It was so riddled with problems that console repair shops and used games stores had to stop taking them because it wasn't worth the effort. Many people who had either voided the warranty or had the warranty expire were forced to buy new ones. It was not a well built system. And the fact people kept buying it when it broke doesn't prove how good a system it was, it just proved how good the games were. The system was terrible. The PS2 was probably one of the worse built consoles in recent history challenged only by the xbox. It's game library was phenomenal though and with reverse compatibility it was a shoe in. Listen if you want to play the "show me stats" game, that's fine but all you're doing is just covering your ears and telling yourself what you want to hear when everyone else knows for themselves the truth that the PS2 was a junk heap. Hell it was in the news on CNN about the massive waves of defective units in the initial launches. Anyone at a game store can tell you it was a poorly built system. The PS2 thrived on hype and the monoply established by the PS1, as a console alone it was a trainwreck. |
As far as I know any issues were not on the news here, but most of this is speculation, if you can post the news sources I'm happy to go along with it, but so far there is none. Also, it looks like you used a lot of hyperbole there.
One person's experience or opinion never shows the general consensus

I better used "now" and "will become probably."
I am sure Gballzack calls PS2 a poorly built piece of crap because
1. He is a fanboy or 2. He just means that technology, power, visuals of the PS2 was the worst and that is true DC, GC and Xbox were all better.
This time the Wii is in the situation of the PS2 years ago because:
1 It has not so new powerfull technology like the X360 and the PS3.
2. It will probably get other games and more exclusives than the other two competitors.

PS2 will live as long as the wii, this is why. alot of new 3rd party developed games anounce for the Wii will be on the ps2, this will increase ps2's lifespan to the point of wii's lifespan, unless developer is abandon the old control method and go with utilize the wiimote. as long there are new games every month for the ps2, people will buy it. you cant beat $129 price tag with an insane huge library of game.
Of course it will go above GB. But I think if inflation had something to say about this not a chance haha.

Gballzack was talking about (in a fanboyish manner, yes) the PS2's physical hardware becoming faulty, not its technology being worse or anything. I do think she should tone it down a bit...let's just assume PS2's sales are final, and whether or not half its sales were due to replacements doesn't really matter anymore.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
360's #s are inflated from people having to buy more then one, solely because the first one died. thier failure rate is WAY beyond any other modern console except maybe the first XBox. So dont try to throw that mud on the PS3. And no way the Wii gets that high, its life wont be long enough.
wii will have too short a lifespan, not to mention supply problems, and wont reach it. 360 and ps3 might, but i think the console race will stop them both under 100 million. in another gen it might happen just because of globalization and the huge numbers of people who will game.
