Poor PlayStation breaking profit records =/

Let's pray that saviour Nintendo can save us all.

Given that Sony shifted from traditional games to live service, they no longer are one of the good ones that deserve success when it comes to gaming. Just another GAAS company like all others, except the holdouts like Nintendo that still make traditional games.

Jesus, some of you guys keep your heads permanently buried in the sand. Nintendo released Phone Gacha games, remasters that have QoL features locked behind plastic toy accessories and games like MK8 were getting DLC releases up to 2023(but I guess that doesn't count as Live Service because it doesn’t fit your pre-conceived ideas of what a live service game should looks like). Smash Brothers 12 DLC characters at combined cost of $60? Perfectly fine, it’s only other games that have expensive DLC we hate here.

Didn't Sony just cancel all of their live service games in development?

Currently PS5 sells less than PS4 and it seems that PS5 Pro doesn't give a big boost in sales. If Microsoft releases their new console next year, I can see Sony following in 2027, because PS5 already peaked in 2023.

Sure, we'll get GTA VI, but I expect just a temporary boost for a couple of weeks. Nothing comparable what Covid did for PS4.

I expect PS5 to sell something between 110 - 115 millions after all is said and done.

I do see 120- 140 million depending how long the PS5 stays in production after 2027's PS6 launch... but after PS4 was shutdown in 2022 i and hardware production cycles get shorter (Xbox 5 years/ PS2 12 years, Xbox 360/PS3 10,5 years, PS4 8 years+, Xone 7 years) i wouldn't be surprised if you where right...

For Nintendo we cannot know. If their system flops i see 5, if it goes through the roof, 10 years+ of hardware production...

The only system that received a good boost due to Covid was the Nintendo Switch, the PS4 was in its way out and the PS5 alongside Xbox series consoles suffered great  shortages.

PS4 started to be down YoY even before Covid. The Xbox was no game changer at any point. Yes the Switch probably benefited the most. But its strange that all mass media wrote that console sales in general where boosted during the Covid insanity when only Switch did. Anyway at the Anti restriction demonstrations many of us played Switch! We even played MK8DX multiplayer. But there was no console war back then. It was paused somehow till 2022. There was only one winner: It was the people who stood up against these lies and gouvermental restrictions!

PS4 sold ~140k/week in January/February 2020, but then sold between 240-370k/week from March until July 2020. That's a boost of 70-260%.
It's unlikely that PS5 will have such a boost at the end of its life cycle.
