Just get another team to do it.

I don't think giving an IP to a new team is something Nintendo does lightly. It's hard to find a team that can make a Donkey Kong Country game as good as the ones that Retro made. It would be a lot easier for them to just wait until Metroid is finished and then maybe let them develop the next DKC game.

We wont know if they dont try. Retro could still just help out in ways that wouldnt take away from the development of MP4. I mean F-Zero and Star Fox has no teams either, so I guess they are dead forever then?

They could try, but that would be a unecessary risk. All of the teams that Nintendo work with already have certain franchises that they work with and it would make much more sense to just let those developers work on games that they have already proven to be good at making and just keep DKC on hold until Retro is ready to make one.

Retro had 5 years after Tropical Freeze and they did nothing. I dont think they are the studio they used to be.

Yeah I agree with you, F-zero was later made by Sega, Star Fox by Rare and Platinum for the latest. They could definitely try looking for someone with DK. However, this discussion was brought up recently by Rare for Banjo. They claimed there aren't many teams that could make these type of games out there anymore, and I think Nintendo is hitting the same wall. Makes me wonder what Retro is doing, seriously it has been close to a decade since their last game. I understand they're working on MP4, but I wonder what they were working on before MP4. Perhaps they are developing 2 projects at the same time and DK is the other xD

I don't think they've lost their touch tho, Metroid Prime remastered was beautiful. That gave me the confidence for MP4 a little bit

That's a bit harsh. Development hell can happen to the best of studios. I think that at least Nintendo still have faith in them considering that they let them work on MP4.

Development hell on what? A new 2D Donkey Kong?

Fire Emblem Three Houses continues to show some solid legs.

Are the sales for the Bayonetta games accurate? Did the separate release of Bayonetta really move over 1 million on its own even though it was bundled with Bayonetta 2? Or is one of the listed figures actually supposed to be for Bayonetta 3?
