Forums - Nintendo - What Nintendo might do for Super Smash Bros. 25th Anniversary

It's next year? Then I would say nothing. They do one smash a generation. I don't see anything new Smash coming out until at least half way through next gen since they apparently haven't even started planning the next Smash yet.

Probably the same as Donkey Kongs 40th...nothing.

It's like they're leaving him to die. -_- Well, other than including him and other Kongs in the Mario movie.

Nintendo has proven for about a decade now that they view DK as a heavy-hitter when he's associated with Mario.

Tropical Freeze released in early 2014 and its enhanced Switch port released in May 2018. There have been no games at all, not even spin-offs.

DK is overdue for a platformer, but to get back to Smash we might see a similar gap.

If Sakurai is indeed not in pre-production yet for a new Smash (he could be lying or Nintendo might be going behind his back), we could still be 4-7 years away from a new Smash. We might get Ultimate Deluxe before then, but it's not the same as a new game.
